Join in on the fun every first Tuesday of the month at the Ritz in Jacksonville Beach for the Big WT Amateur Whiting Fishing Tournament. For those unfamiliar with the Whiting Tournament, this is their monthly charity fishing tournament benefiting PurpleStride (Pancreatic Cancer). Entry is only $10 and $5 for the optional Calcutta. After the tournament they have a delicious fish fry with the days catch along with a charity raffle filled with lots of great prizes! Drink specials also include $2 Mexican beers all day at the Ritz to keep the body refreshed.

There are very few rules:

  • $10 entry fee (form and fee must be submitted before going fishing.)
  • Fish must be caught by entrant on day of tournament.
  • Fish must be caught by rod & reel (no net or C4 explosive.)
  • Judge & rules committee will govern any disputes.
  • Any tie will be broken by earliest weigh-in time.
  • Weigh-in between 4 & 6 PM at the RITZ.
  • Entrants may not fish in association with non-entrants on day of tourney (this rule is very important and will be strictly enforced.)
  • A team may consist of one entrant or one hundred.  All team members must pay $10 entry.

Additional rules:

  • Any rule breakers will forfeit their entry and forfeit WT competition eligibility for not less than 45 months.
  • Red, White, and Blue - All team members must be entered in the side bet for anyone to claim this prize. Single entrants must not mingle fish with teams for this side bet. Fairness is of utmost importance for this.
  • An entrant may weigh ONLY two whiting to determine his largest fish.  This is in order to move the weigh-in line along and so not to upset our Weigh Master, an old Master Chief.
  • Weighed-In fish are the property of the Big WT.  We want to eat all of the biggest whiting of the day at the Ritz.
  • All contestants who who claim a prize must be present at the time said prize is awarded.
