When Red, White & Brew Freedom Run organizers began planning for the launch of Florida’s largest freedom run earlier this year, they never dreamed how involved the community would become to assist local veteran’s charities.
Ultimate Racing, Inc., a race management company based in Saint Augustine, and 904 Happy Hour out of Jacksonville joined forces to bring a patriotic run to the area that would benefit area veteran’s charities. With the partnership of the Riverside Arts Market, many volunteers and a host of sponsors, the community came out in force to support K9’s for Warriors and Warfighters in Arms.
This year, organizers donated a total of $5,000 to the 2 charities, which will help them provide service to North Florida area veterans. Warfighters in Arms is a volunteer-led group that helps vets transition to civilian life by offering employment, support, guidance, and encouragement. K9’s for Warriors provides service canines to vets suffering from PTSD and more for service members after 9.11.
Sal Palmieri, US Army veteran and owner of Ultimate Racing said he was pleased they were able to offer a sizeable donation to deserving charities and offered thanks to participants for putting this event on the top of their list to support local vets.
"We're excited to have the opportunity to work with local veteran organizations and bring the community together for a first class event that benefits and recognizes our nations heroes" said Charles Wagoner, event producer and founder of 904 Happy Hour. 904 Happy Hour also produces the Beaches Freedom Festival in July at the Seawalk Pavilion in Jacksonville Beach which benefits and raises awareness for five local veteran groups.
Registration for 2018’s Red, White & Brew Freedom Run and Festival will open on December 1st and organizers expect it to sell out this year with the addition of even more fun and entertainment at the finish line.
