Every spring, hundreds of hungry folks converge on the Prime Osborn Convention Center in downtown Jacksonville, anxious to sample scrumptious recipes offered by Jacksonville area “celebrities.”

On Thursday, March 29 from 10:30am – 1pm at the Prime Osborn Convention Center, The Salvation Army’s Women’s Auxiliary will present the 32nd annual Celebrity Chefs fundraiser. This event features local celebrities dishing up tastes of their favorite recipes, as well as an extensive silent auction to raise money for the programs of The Salvation Army of Northeast Florida. Tickets are $30 in advance and include admission to the tasting and silent auction, as well as a cookbook containing the recipes featured at the tasting. Parking for this event is free.

Diners stop for a nibble from each station, where a local “celebrity” is serving up a spoonful of their favorite recipe. The two-hour event includes a silent auction, which raises thousands of dollars each year for special projects. Always present at the auction are such items as artwork, collectibles, jewelry, dinners, spa treatments, sports memorabilia, weekend getaways, rounds of golf, designer accessories, and much more.

The Auxiliary membership includes over 100 dedicated women who work throughout the year to make this event possible. Funds raised through this event support several of The Salvation Army’s programs including: scholarships for homeless children and playground improvements at the Child Development Center; linens, towels and funding for furniture and clothing for shelter residents; and ongoing support of the Adult Rehabilitation Center.
