The Washington Post reported this morning The Republican National Convention is (tentatively) coming to Jax in August! Estimates show the event could draw 50,000 visitors.

Estimates show the event could draw 50,000 visitors with a potential $100 million economic impact. Duval County has 18,000 hotel rooms. Of the eight hotels downtown and on the Southbank, there are more than 2,300 rooms.

While this story is still developing, there is now a petition that’s being shared on social media to stop the event from being held in Jax as well as rumors of protests.
