Jacksonville Fl - Wednesday morning, Jacksonville Suns owner Ken Babby unveiled a new logo and name for Jacksonville's beloved minor league baseball team. The team, that's been home to Jacksonville since the 1960's hasn't seen a change like this... ever. The new team name is the "Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp" and the logo portrays a Shrimp shaped as the letter "J" (pictured below).

“This is a high-energy, impactful, bold move,” Babby said Tuesday. “There’s certainly risk that goes along with it. There’ll be feedback and, I’m sure, some resistance. We’ve been holding on to this for a while and look forward to sharing it with the community. The tradition of the Jacksonville Suns is entrenched in Northeast Florida. It’s been known and loved. The passion for minor-league baseball in Jacksonville doesn’t change [with a new team name]. It’s just a new chapter in its evolution.”

As of Wednesday afternoon at 6:00pm, a petition has started circling social media. The petition already has over 6,500 signatures and demands Babby, a "outsider to the community" said one supporter, change the teams name back to the Suns.
