The Jacksonville Agricultural Fair began on Wednesday and started off with Craig Morgan performing on Thursday, and on Friday the Fall Free Gator Country concert series. Craig Morgan has performed recently at the Jacksonville Landing in July and has always put on a great show. A source says that Craig Morgan performed amazing on Thursday Night and brought in a big crowd for the fair’s concert series kick off. He is known for his favorite songs, “International Harvester”, “I Got You”, and his newest song “Waking Up Lovin You”.
The next night the concert series continued on with the newest duo in country music “American Young”. This country duo is led by Jon Stone and Kristy Osmunson. They’re recent single “Love Is War” is played quite often on 99.9 Gator Country. I actually like this song for its soft sound and meaningful lyrics. The girl in the band Kristy Osmunson started out in a duo called Bomshel that began in 2006. Their songs that were hits were “Fight Like a Girl”, “19 and Crazy”, and “Power of One”. After her first band she had joined forces with Jon Stone and helped his form American Young. I think this new duo has a lot of potential and really knows how to put on a show. Although the crowd was very small on Friday due to the cold weather, people were really intrigued by the duo’s stage presence. I thought they did a great job on their performance and really showed them they are here to perform.
On Veteran’s Day Sara Evans took the stage and brought in a huge crowd for the Jacksonville Fair. She has been working on a new album and will be coming out soon. The crowd was big and the weather for the concert was fair not too cold or too hot. She performed her hits “Born To Fly”, “As If”, “A Real Fine Place To Start”, and her newest song “Slow Me Down”. She has a very country sound; some say she reminds them of Loretta Lynn, a traditional country singer. The Gator Country Concert Series was really setting the bar really high at that point with a great artist and brought in a big crowd to fill up the place.
Cassadee Pope took the stage on Tuesday night and she did a phenomenal job. As people may know her as the winner from the Voice, she was also in an early rock band before she went on the show. Her single “Wasting All These Tears” has been the highlighted song of her career. This girl is also a Florida native from West Palm Beach and she is humble to Gator Country for the amount of requests people put in for her song. She also gave a shout out to her voice coach who was at the fair that night and they were all wearing T-shirts that represent the place of where they were taught at. I will say the crowd was not as big as it was on Monday, but I still saw a good performance from her.
The Gator Country concert series came to a close with Cole Swindel taking the stage on Thursday night. If the fans didn’t know who Cole was, he was the opening act for Luke Bryan’s Farm tour this year. Cole is also a famous songwriter for Luke Bryan, Craig Campell, and Scotty McCreary. Cole is currently working on his first album that will be out in 2014. As cold as it was on Thursday, the crowd was big and everybody kept each other warm to enjoy Cole Swindel’s performance. I quite enjoyed the last concert of the Gator Country Concert Series and so many fans did as well. Gator Country always brings good acts to keep the fair entertaining and fun.
