JACKSONVILLE FL – The national running series Great Urban Race offers a mentally and physically challenging Saturday afternoon that takes participants dashing through their cities to visit local organizations, with an added bonus: runners are competing for a cash prize and potentially their share of $10,000. The urban scavenger hunt has been in existence since 2007, but will hit Jacksonville for the first time on March 8th. In 2014, Great Urban Race will take participants to big adventures in 14 domestic and international locations.

Team members will solve and complete 12 unique clues at local Jacksonville businesses and landmarks.  In previous races, challenges have included one teammate lying on a bed of nails, walking on glass, and taking a photo with a live tiger. First, second, and third place finishers will receive a cash prize. The top 25 teams to complete the race in each location will secure a spot in the National Championship race, held in Vancouver on August 9th. The top teams at the Championship will take home a total of $10,000 in grand prizes.

Red Frog Events, producers of Great Urban Race is proud to partner with St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital® for each of their events and has helped raise over $8.2 million for the hospital.

The cost of the race is $60 per person until March 8 and $75 per person on race day.  The race is open to everyone, but an adult must accompany participants under the age of 18. Registration begins at 11am at Mellow Mushroom Avondale, 3611 St. John’s Avenue, Jacksonville, Florida 32205. The race begins at noon.
