Bring your best beer stein and participate in our Oktoberfest-themed competitions, hosted by First Coast Living’s Curtis Dvorak! And stick around for the annual Tapping of the Keg at 6:30pm. Jacksonville Main Library: Happy 50th Birthday, City of Jacksonville! Commemorate 50 years of Jacksonville’s consolidation with a Jacksonville Symphony performance and a presentation by Dr. Jim Crooks, author of Jacksonville: The Consolidation Story, from Civil Rights to the Jaguars. You’ll definitely want to stick around for a slice of cake!
City Hall: Check out an exhibit celebrating the 50th anniversary of consolidation. The exhibit highlights events that led to a consolidated government--the only government of its kind in Florida. The famous "white hat" of consolidation is on display, recovered years after its burial in a time capsule. The music and fashions from the 60's are also on display. See a 60's era voting machine and play your favorite oldies on a 1968 juke box.
