Jacksonville has seen a rise in new restaurants this year. The newest restaurant in Avondale is Barrique.  Barrique is all about enjoying life with good friends, good food, & good wine. The name is derived from the old world dialects of France, Italy and Spain, literally meaning a small oak cask barrel used for making fine wines. 

The three partners of Barrique, Greg Bartolotta, Rich Rapp, and Joseph Murphy, are long time friends from Long Island, NY. Both Rich and Joseph relocated to the Jacksonville area over the past 10 years to bring the idea of a conceptual restaurant here. Greg has built and operated as many as 7 successful restaurants in the NYC area. They chose to open their restaurant in Avondale due to its energy and the contributions of the surrounding community members along with its rustic look.

Barrique offers fabulous rustic food, artisanal cheeses, cured meats, thin crust pizza, pan pressed sandwiches, mini desserts & much more, all centered around a social sharing experience, with attentive personal service, while letting you, the guest, set the pace. The popular dishes that guests love are the Oven Roasted Oysters, Seafood Pasta, Baked Brie Pretzel w/ fig jam, Thin Crust Pizzas, Clams, Short Ribs, and Lamb Chops. They also have a great variety of salads such as Prosciutto & Watermelon Salad, Burrata, and Poached Pear Salad. One of the most popular and loved dishes at Barrique is the Octopus.

Barrique has two chefs:  Lisa who worked at Royal Palm and was a food scientist at Marco 32 and Chef Andrew Gash (who comes from NY) who used to work for a highly rater gastro restaurant called Roots. 

Barrique offers over 200 carefully selected wines. Their list has a strong slant on American Wines, although they have many global choices including Spanish red blends, Big Borrellos, Big Cabs, 9ers, and Chaffers offered in full size and half bottles. Offering well priced Vino, with most under $40. There are more than 50 half bottles and over 50 wines by the glass to choose from. Guests can also take home their open bottle of wine if they are unable to finish it there. Most importantly, you can relax and enjoy a unique dining experience at Barrique.
