St. Augustine, FL (January 27, 2015) – The St. Augustine Amphitheatre welcomes the return of The Golden Dragon Acrobats for two very special performances on Friday, March 27 and Saturday, March 28, 2015. This year, The Golden Dragon Acrobats present a brand-new cirque spectacular entitled “Cirque Ziva”. Tickets go on sale to the general public this Friday, January 30 at 10 a.m.
The Golden Dragon Acrobats present Cirque Ziva is the newest show from producer Danny Chang (Artistic Director of the Golden Dragon Acrobats). Cirque Ziva is a fast-paced, technically innovative and beautifully presented new show featuring a large cast of performers, award-winning acrobatics, spectacular costumes and set designs, ancient and contemporary music and theatrical techniques. Cirque Ziva illustrates the best of Danny Chang’s brand of artistic merit, high production value and solid commitment to cultural exchange.
Continuing over 30 years of US touring performing a centuries-old Chinese art form, The Golden Dragon Acrobats remain the only Chinese acrobatic company touring year-round in the United States and present over 200 performances annually. In 2005, their Broadway debut and seven-week run at the New Victory Theatre earned two prestigious New York Drama Desk Awards nominations for Best Choreography and Most Unique Theatrical Experience. The Golden Dragon Acrobats performed at the St. Augustine Amphitheatre back in September of 2010, wowing thousands with their spectacular acrobatic feats.
Lien Chi Chang officially established the Chinese Golden Dragon Acrobats in 1967 with his family whose members included Danny Chang, his sister and other students. From 1967 to 1984, Lien Chi led the company to numerous performances in different nations. The Chinese Golden Acrobats dazzled audiences from eight to 80-year olds all across the globe. After 17 years of apprenticeship under his father, Danny Chang was ready to step up as President of the Golden Dragon Acrobats when Lien Chi accepted the head coaching position at the National Taiwan College of Performing Arts. Today, the Golden Dragon Acrobats have been recognized as the preeminent Chinese acrobatic company in the United States.
Tickets for The Golden Dragon Acrobats present Cirque Ziva will go on sale this Friday, January 30 at 10am at the St. Augustine Amphitheatre and Ponte Vedra Concert Hall Box Offices.
