This weekend brings concerts, sports, events, and more! There are some great markets to check out no matter if you're in St. Augustine or Jacksonville. Start planning ahead for Valentine's Day and plan the ultimate date night (or Galentine's Day). Check out the upcoming events section because there are some fun festivals at the end of the month that you don't want to miss! 

 First Wednesday Art Walk 

When: 2/2

Downtown Vision has proudly hosted the First Wednesday Art Walk since 2003 to welcome people to DTJax and celebrate the community’s deep pool of creative talent.  

Art Walk has returned after a break due to the pandemic and now takes place monthly! We invite you to bring your family, friends and coworkers for a self-guided tour of Downtown’s northbank core on the first Wednesday of every month. Explore three major hubs: James Weldon Johnson Park, The Jessie (duPont Center) and Vagabond Flea at The Breezeway at Vystar Tower, and all the businesses and public art between. Art Walk runs 5-9 p.m., rain or shine. Masks encouraged.

 

AN EVENING WITH DREW & ELLIE HOLCOMB: THE YOU & ME TOUR

When: 2/4 at 8PM

Where: The Florida Theatre

Drew and Ellie Holcomb are a husband and wife Americana duo from Nashville, TN. Shortly after their marriage in 2006, the couple began touring together with Drew Holcomb & The Neighbors. The band has supported many national touring acts including, The Avett Brothers, NEEDTOBREATHE, Don Henley, and Willie Nelson.

Ellie is no longer a touring member of “The Neighbors,” and has found success in a solo career as a Christian singer/songwriter, winning two Dove Awards and topping the Billboard charts. Her most recent album, CANYON, was released in June of 2021 to much fanfare.

 THE LIFE AND MUSIC OF GEORGE MICHAEL

When: 2/5 at 8PM

Where: Florida Theatre

The Life and Music of George Michael is a brand-new immersive concert-style show that chronicles the amazing journey George Michael had with music and his fans. The show captures the performance and sound of George Michael with staging and lighting while telling his story through early music hits from Wham! and his illustrious solo career.

Parker Mccolum 

Where: Florida Theatre

When: 2/6

Parker McCollum wants it both ways. Restless soul who can slam dunk a major venue. Texas spirit who can exist on mainstream country radio. Songwriter with a sense of turpentine and truth singing for people whose life isn’t quite the truckbed/field party revel much of country music would have you believe. He exhales as he says this, takes in the landscape.

Rigoletto

Where: Times Union Center for the Arts

Composed in 1851, Verdi's opera RIGOLETTO is an intriguing study of the contrasts between good and evil. Destinies collide as the womanizing Duke of Mantua and his vengeful court jester RIGOLLETO, weave a fascinating drama of seduction, betrayal, curses and vendettas ending with the tragic death of an innocent young woman.

The Chris Thomas Band: The Rat Pack

When: 2/4 and 2/5

Where: Jacksonville Symphony

“When Chris Thomas takes the stage he doesn’t just sing, he aims to embody the swagger and style of Dean Martin, Sammy Davis and Frank Sinatra” says The Florida Times-Union. “Fly Me to the Moon,” “My Way,” “You’re Nobody Till Somebody Loves You” and more performed by Jacksonville’s best big band alongside the Jacksonville Symphony. You’ll be dancing in the aisles.

Come join the community at the Market for Makers. Their markets are known to bring together independent artists specializing in home decor, fashion, art, design, and more! It is a fun environment and you can purchase general admission or VIP!

 Pig Roast at Main & Six

When: 2/6 at 3PM

At this point you can say they have made a tradition of their whole pig roast at Main & Six Brewery. Come enjoy some good food, great beer, and even better hangs. The plate will include a heaping pile of Lola Farms Heritage pork, a couple different sides, and all of our toppings. We will have seconds available and also some great dessert for those who show up early. If you have any food allergies, please specify when you purchase your ticket.

Chasing Tail 5k & Forever Vets Fun Run

Join Kanine Social on February 12th for a doggone good time!  Kanine Social is excited to bring you the inaugural Chasing Tail 5K and Forever Vets Fun Run, supporting the Jacksonville Humane Society. Fang from the Jacksonville Icemen will be pacing along for the 1-mile fun run! This is a dog friendly run, so bring your dog to run or walk with you or let your dog hangout at Kanine Social’s private dog park with a friend while you race.

The courses will start and finish at Kanine Social and the 5K will consist of 2 loops.

Discover Fort Mose: Jazz and Blues Series

Where:  15 Fort Mose Trail

When: 2/16- 2/26

In the course of two weekends, from February 18-26, 2022, world-class artists like Tank & The Bangas and Gregory Porter will grace our stages to celebrate these two incredible genres of music at Fort Mose Historic State Park. Proceeds from this event will support construction of an on-site fort representation and development of interpretive resources. The original fort was destroyed during the Battle of Bloody Mose in 1740.

Beethoven to Brahms

Imagine the crushing feeling Brahms – and all of his contemporaries for that matter – felt trying to write a symphony after Beethoven’s Ninth.
