MEDIA ALERT: Walnut Street Grand Opening
 

Green Cove Springs, FL – September 16, 2024 – The City of Green Cove Springs is pleased to announce the completion of phase one of the redevelopment of Walnut Street. Both sides of the newly refurbished street are now open to traffic, bringing enhanced safety and accessibility to our community.
The construction project, which began in February, involved significant upgrades, including roadway reconstruction, new sidewalks, improved drainage systems, new landscaping, and updated street lighting. 

These improvements are part of the City's ongoing commitment to maintaining and enhancing the infrastructure to better serve residents and visitors.
Assistant City Manager, Mike Null, expressed enthusiasm about the project completion, stating, “The transformation of historic Walnut Street marks a pivotal moment for Green Cove Springs. These enhancements will not only improve walkability for pedestrians but also significantly boost the safety and visual appeal of our downtown area, making it a more inviting space for everyone.”
