Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla. – THE PLAYERS Championship is pleased to announce that its Birdies for Charity program will return for the 2014 tournament, running from January 6 – May 7. The program gives local non-profit organizations the chance to fundraise while fans have the chance to win a prize by guessing the number of birdies that will be made during THE PLAYERS 2014. THE PLAYERS returns to THE PLAYERS Stadium Course at TPC Sawgrass, May 6-11.
Any Northeast Florida charitable organization, recognized by the IRS as a 501(c)(3), is eligible to participate in Birdies for Charity. Charities encourage individuals to make a donation (minimum $20) to their organization via the Birdies for Charity program and each donation is accompanied by a birdies guess for a chance to win $5,000, sponsored by TPC Sawgrass. There will be one winner. In the event of a tie, the individual who provides the correct answers to tie-breaker question(s) will be awarded the grand prize. In 2013, there were 1,603 birdies made during the tournament with 44 balls in the water at No. 17. Participating charities also have the opportunity to raise bonus dollars from a $250,000 bonus pool based on their performance during the program. For official rules, see www.birdiesforcharity.playerschampionship.com.
To assist with promotion of the program, THE PLAYERS provides marketing materials that can be customized, printed and/or emailed to potential supporters. Charities can include Birdies for Charity information on their own website and create a link to the Birdies for Charity website.
