Happy Juneteenth Jacksonville! Juneteenth is the oldest nationally celebrated commemoration of the ending of slavery in the United States. On June 19, 1865 a Union General rode into Galveston, Texas to announce that the Civil War had ended, and slaves had been freed. In order to celebrate and to help all of you celebrate as well, we've compiled a list of a few of our favorite local, black-owned businesses to support!
Let us know if we missed any of your favorites, we're always excited to try new restaurants and support local businesses!

Located in the heart of Avondale, Social House Coffee embodies what a coffee shop should be: A comforting place for community to get together and enjoy the simple pleasures of life. Social House Coffee was born from a lifelong dream for owners, Arrelious and Mariel Benn. Mariel's connection to coffee began as a child in the Dominican Republic where strong, smooth coffee is a way of life. Arrelious, a former Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver, knew that when he retired, he wanted to find a way to connect and give back to the community that supported him for so many years. Thus, Social House Coffee was born. Their coffee is ethically sourced, brewed fresh daily, and nothing short of delicious.
Mixed Fillings Pie Shop is located in Jacksonville's historic Avondale, with a new location opening in Five Points soon. Mixed Pie Fillings was born in the kitchen of founder Chef Natasha Burton. Chef Natasha Burton would spend her childhood summers in Florida, where she would make her famous mud pies and decorate them with dandelions. After many mud pie-filled summers, Chef Natasha was inspired to attend culinary school and became classically trained in French Culinary techniques at Le Cordon Bleu. In 2019, her family made the decision to support Natasha's dream and relocate to Florida from Texas to pursue a one of a kind pie shop. Mixed Fillings Pie Shop offers single slices of pie as well as customized pie for any occasion. We guarantee you've never tasted a better pie than this.
