Springfield Preservation and Revitalization (SPAR) is excited to announce that one of Historic Springfield’s favorite annual traditions, the Holiday Bike Ride and Parade, will be Tuesday, December 15th. This leisurely evening ride will include over 200 bikes, scooters, skateboards, and golf carts rolling through the Historic District of Springfield to enjoy the lights and spectacles of the holidays.
The ride is free to join and open to all ages and skill levels. Bikes decorations are encouraged as are bike lights and safety gear. Due to COVID safety precautions, social distancing and masks will be expected.
We will meet at Sesquicentennial Park (1527 North Main Street) at 6pm on Dec. 15th. The ride will begin shortly after 6pm and will return to Sesquicentennial Park around 7:30pm. The route will cover most of the historic square mile and will allow riders to experience the best of Historic Springfield’s lighted displays from the perfect vantage point. After the slow roll, we will end the event with refreshments in the park. Non-riders are also welcome to join us in SesQ Park to enjoy the festivities before and after the ride.
“SPAR is excited to organize the Holiday Bike Ride for the 6th year,” Kelly Rich, SPAR Executive Director said. “The Springfield neighborhood is unlike any other in the city, and we love to highlight that unique personality to residents and visitors alike. We’re proud to be one of the most bike friendly neighborhoods in Jacksonville and love to host social bike rides throughout the year for the City to enjoy.”
