Five points is now adding one of Mayport’s favorite seafood restaurants, Safe Harbor Seafood, over at Marah Brewing Company.
Owned by Chris and Deanna Wooten, the couple have been running the seafood market and restaurant for years as part of a Mayport waterfront complex including docks and a fish house. Deanna Wooten’s father, Gerald Pack, has also owned the majority of the Mayport site since 1978. Known for its “fresh off the boat to plate” local shrimp, fish and other seafood, they will join the craft brewery in a renovated Victorian Home at 1521 Margaret St. The restaurant and brewery is located 5 blocks from the St. Johns River, and is next door to Mossfire Grill & Lounge, where the old 5 Points Tavern and O’Brothers Irish Pub used to be.
Safe Harbor’s menu will include customer favorites such as a platter of 10 fresh Mayport jumbo shrimp, hush puppies, French fries and coleslaw; soups such as clam chowder, crab Savannah and seafood gumbo can be enjoyed, along with fresh, real grouper, trigger and cobia. Safe Harbor will also offer 3 or 4 fresh “Catch of the Day”.
Marah Brewing, owned by James Menker and Brett Baker, co-founder of Wicked Barley Co., opened earlier this year with a dozen taps and variety of craft beers, sangrias and ciders. It features live music as well as multiple televisions and a variety of bar games.
This is a new hot spot in Five Points, and for seafood lovers out there, this is THE place to taste delicious fish, shrimp and hush puppies.
Come out and enjoy a brew with a platter of delicious seafood!
