Jacksonville Symphony Season Finale to Include Livestream and the Return of Pianist Conrad Tao
Jacksonville, Fla – On June 10 and 11, the Jacksonville Symphony closes its 73rd season with orchestral masterpieces from Sergei Prokofiev and Dmitri Shostakovich featuring the return of award-winning pianist Conrad Tao. As part of the David M. Hicks Piano Series, these performances will take place in Jacoby Symphony Hall on the Symphony’s Steinway concert grand piano.
Conducted by Music Director Courtney Lewis, the final Florida Blue Classical concert of the 2022/23 season commences with Tao bringing his virtuosity to the joy of Sergei Prokofiev's Third Piano Concerto. This piece is famously difficult for the dexterity and stamina it requires of the soloist and, as a result, and is widely considered an ultra-virtuosic showpiece concertos.
“We’re thrilled to welcome Conrad back to Jacksonville and to have him play a major role in our season finale,” said Music Director Courtney Lewis. “Prokofiev's Third Concerto is a work of passionate expression that flies from the keyboard with bursts of spontaneity. This piece is perfectly suited for Conrad, and I cannot wait for our audience to experience it.”
In addition to the performances in Jacoby Symphony Hall, the season finale will also be livestreamed on the Jacksonville Symphony YouTube channel on Saturday, June 10 beginning at 7:30 p.m. Those interested in watching can visit here.
“These final classical performances mark the perfect exclamation point on this exalted season” said President and CEO Steven Libman. “On behalf of our Board of Directors and the entire Symphony staff, we extend our thanks and gratitude to every patron and donor that has supported us this season. We’re all very excited to celebrate the end of the 2022/23 season and welcome the boundless possibilities of the 2023/24 Season ahead of us.”
