With the birth of Unity Plaza a few months ago, a restaurant that has become noticed is HOBNOB. I sat down with the Dining room manager and got a history about the restaurant. Owned by Alan and Ellen Cottrill, (each of them have a degree in Art (Ellen) and Culinary Arts (Alan), they built HOBNOB.  Alan and Ellen wanted to fuse both of their talents by having a restaurant that offers a lot of eye catching areas with a museum feel and a very strong culinary presence; which is why they brought on Roger Regulacion as their chef.

Chef Roger Regulacion is a strong-willed, loving, big hearted man from Hawaii. Roger always wanted a restaurant that celebrated multiple culture cuisines. He worked with the owners who had a similar vision and decided to come together, drink together and have a good time.  They wanted to offer authentic dishes from different cultures so that people could come here to play, learn, be nostalgic about things they’ve experienced in other countries and celebrate diversity. Roger has worked with celebrity Chef Kat Kora and previously worked at Bistro X and Roy’s at the beach. He is well received with his staff by his side, and they work well together to create a level of elevated service standards and built a kitchen team that is always learning.

HOBNOB’ is founded on the concept of “global inspiration and local intentions”. The chef and owners’ inspirations combined and went hand in hand in developing the menu for the restaurant. HOBNOB’s menu celebrates Southeast Asian, French, Mediterranean, Greek, and also pulls in some North African influence into the menu. HOBNOB is designed to be a conversation piece and to allow you to taste and explore while dining with them. Popular entrees at HOBNOB are Chilean sea bass and the veal chop.

HOBNOB always has special events at Unity Plaza. At their grand opening, they had the Chris Thomas Band perform, and he will be performing once every month. On September 5, HOBNOB will be hosting their first annual Labor Day Luau, which is a nod to the chef’s Hawaiian heritage. You will enjoy authentic Hawaiian cuisine and a roasted pig at the Luau. There will be a lot of fun activities and music performed by Kalani Rose. Tickets will be on sale at Eventbrite. It’s a party you don’t want to miss.
