Dos Vatos Tacos

Dos Vatos Tacos is the newest taco shop in town. Don’t go there expecting a Mexican restaurant, because it’s not that. The owners Derek and Marco focus on just tacos(along with a few sides).
Why just tacos? Derek says “It’s the perfect platform, you can put anything into it. It’s 4 or 5 bites of something fun and tasty and then you’re on to the next one”.
On their regular menu you will find beef, chicken, carnitas, mole chicken and jackfruit. After you order your tacos you can pick your toppings from a topping “bar” located behind the counter.
Be sure to check out their “Especial” menu where the more creative choices can be found. I’ve had the Korean short rib, Sesame Salmon and the Bang Bang shrimp so far and all were very tasty. They are always creating and adding to this menu.
My favorite taco there is the Quesabirria. If you are a foodie or follow any foodies on social media, you may have heard of the Birria taco. It is super popular right now but hard to find. If you are wondering what it is, Birria is a savory Mexican stew(traditionally made with goat meat) made here with beef that is slow cooked until the meat is tender and falling apart. They take the meat and put it into a tortilla. The stew is served on the side and you dip the taco into the stew then straight into your mouth. At Dos Vatos they melt cheese onto the tortilla before putting the meat on top. This not only adds another level of deliciousness, but it also helps keep your taco from falling apart. It’s a Win-win! Some restaurants are offering them on occasion, but they have them every day at Dos Vatos Tacos!
You can also find Dos Vatos at “Salsa Sunday” (the 1st Sunday of every month) slinging tacos at Intuition Ale Works.
