Anne Frank: A History for Today, an international traveling exhibition curated by the Anne Frank Center in New York, portrays the moving story of Anne Frank, a young, courageous Jewish girl who gained international fame after the posthumous publication of her diary written while she and her family were in hiding during World War II. The true story of Anne Frank serves as a powerful symbol and a role model for today. Her insights and courage continue to inspire students, educators, and citizens more than 60 years after her diary was first published.

This exhibit is designed to:

Challenge visitors to think about concepts such as tolerance, mutual respect, human rights, and democracy.

Inspire communities to use the past as a tool for improving their city’s future.

Help visitors understand that change in our society does not come about by itself. We all need to make a personal commitment to make our community and our world a better place.

Exhibitions from the Anne Frank Center have traveled throughout the country since 1985, and continue to be in high demand in cities across the United States and Europe. This exhibit was presented in Jacksonville in 1993 with an attendance of 35,000 over four weeks. Its broad appeal and continued relevance in the 21st century serves as the catalyst for its return to Jacksonville for a new generation of citizens to view and experience.
