As much as we love Florida summers, sometimes we need a break from all the heat! Thus, we've created an Air Conditioned Guide for those days where we simply need some quality air flow in our lives. This guide is a curated list of air conditioned places and activities in the 904 that can be enjoyed year-round!
Not many people know that Jacksonville is home to top 20 of the best car collections in the world, the Brumos Collection. The Brumos Collection is a hidden Jacksonville gem, tucked farther down on San Pablo Road. The Brumos Collection is home to a presitgious selection of vehicles that takes you on a drive through the history of auto racing and technological innovation. They are open Thursday's from 9am-2pm and Friday's and Saturday's from 9am-3pm.
The Cummer Museum of Arts & Gardens is the largest fine arts museum in Northeast Florida. Here you can be the heat and enjoy their café, take a tour or class, or simply stroll through all the incredible art yourself. The museum has a permanent collection that is always on display as well as special exhibitions that are only at the museum for a certain amount of time.
MOSH is Jacksonville's Museum of Science and History, located in Downtown Jacksonville. MOSH is a great indoor, air conditioned activity because they always have new fun exhibits or events happening. Some of MOSH's events include Cosmic Concerts, Planetarium Nights, Mosh After Dark, and so much more! Keep in mind that the MOSH is closed on Tuesday's and Wednesday's, but open the rest of the week with varying hours.
Autobahn is an indoor electric go-kart racing facility that is fully air conditioned and the perfect activity for all the adrenaline junkies in the 904. Along with their indoor speed way, Autobahn also offers axe throwing, an arcade, and restaurant, so there's plenty of fun to be had here.
Stumpy's Hatchet House is located in historic Springfield and is the perfect activity for any large group looking to have a "kick-axe" time! Stumpy's offers 7 throwing pits, giant board games, beer, wine, and delightful snacks like boiled peanuts. They also have fun events throughout the week like College Night, Ladies Night, and $3 mimosas every Sunday! What more could you ask for?
Leaderboard Arcade is located in Orange Park and is Jacksonville's number one arcade bar and pizzeria. They offer classic arcade games, newly released arcade games, pinball consoles, tabletop games, pizza, craft beer, and more! They are open everyday of the week with varying hours and are always open until midnight at the earliest, so it's the perfect late night, air conditioned activity.
The Rock Edge Gym is a rock climbing gym located off Philips Highway that consists of over 15,000 square feet of bouldering and rope/lead climbing walls. The Rock Edge Gym has a variety of climbs for beginners to experts as well as workers on the floor to make sure everyone has a safe and fun experience. Their hours are 7 days a week from 12pm-8pm.
Kanine Social is located in historic Riverside and is Jacksonville's only indoor dog park, beer garden, and daycare/boarding facility in one. It is the perfect place to get your pup's energy out while staying out of the heat. Kanine Social also has an outdoor dog park with a splash zone, but for this guide we're all about the indoor dog park and their crisp craft beers!
Taking a pottery class is a great idea on miserably hot days because it keeps you creative and hands-on in the comfort of air conditioning! There are many pottery studios in Jacksonville to choose from but the one pictured above is Jacksonville Pottery Studio located in Riverside. Grab your fun, artsy, and creative friends and try a pottery class for your next indoor activity!
There are plenty of awesome, air conditioned breweries in Jacksonville to hang out in! Most breweries not only offer delicious craft beer, but also bar food and lots of board games to get into. The brewery pictured above is World of Beer located in Southpoint that offers mouthwatering appetizers, entrees, and two Topgolf Swing Suites. The weather is a perfect excuse to catch a new movie, eat deliciously buttery popcorn, and recline in those big, comfy chairs. There are lots of movie theaters in Jacksonville to choose from, including multiple Cinemarks, AMC's, Regal's, Sun-Ray and more!
