Tickets will go on sale to the general public this Friday, April 17 at 10 a.m.
Counting Crows are one of those bands you follow for the long haul. Known for creating unique and innovative concerts and consistently ranked as one of the top live bands performing today, Counting Crows continue their world tour throughout 2015with a stopover at the St. Augustine Amphitheatre on August 2. For those that first heard them opening for Bob Dylan long ago, or subbing for Van Morrison one memorable night at the rock and Roll Hall of Fame, much of the soundtrack of our times comes from the Crows, from their vivid musical landscapes as well as the feverish brilliance of singer and songwriter Adam Duritz. Hailing from the San Francisco Bay area, Counting Crows consists of vocalist Adam Duritz, guitarists David Bryson, David Immergluck, and Dan Vickrey; bassist Millard Powers; keyboardist Charlie Gillingham; and drummer Jim Bogios. Their success dates back to their 1993 debut release August and Everything After and the hit single “Mr. Jones.” The band hit #1 with the song “Accidentally In Love,” which was featured on the Shrek 2 soundtrack, as well as nominations in 2005 for a Grammy Award, a Golden Globe Award, and an Academy Award for the track. In 2012, the band recorded a collection of cover songs entitled Underwater Sunshine (Or What We Did on Our Summer Vacation) and the live album, Echoes of the Outlaw Roadshow, the following year. Now, on Somewhere Under Wonderland, their seventh studio album, the band push into new terrain with a revamped songwriting approach that’s adventurous and visionary but still rooted in raw emotion. Propelled by the same earthy passion that’s instilled their songs since 1993’s multiplatinum August and Everything After, Counting Crows build each of Somewhere Under Wonderland’s nine sprawling songs around rich sonic tapestries and a storytelling-esque lyricism that yields some of their most grandiose yet intimate songs so far.
“Rawness improbably balanced by a mixture of danger and delicacy,” says one Rolling Stone writer, “is what gives Citizen Cope his edge. As a singer, songwriter and producer, he stands alone - an artist immune to corruption.” Dug deep into the rich soil of American music, Citizen Cope’s roots are complex. You may think of Bill Withers or Neil Young or John Lee Hooker or Van Morrison or Willie Nelson or Al Green. Yet, listening to Cope, you also may think of none of the above. You may not think at all, but rather feel a man exposing stories that haunt his heart. Born Clarence Greenwood, Cope is a child of the seventies, and is the radically mashed-up product of Greenville, Mississippi; Memphis, Tennessee; Vernon, Texas; Austin, Texas; Washington, DC; and Brooklyn, New York. His sounds are southern rural, big sky lonely, concrete urban, and painfully romantic. In the past nine years, he has produced four albums of depth and distinction, each a critical chapter in his search for a sound that paints an auditory American landscape.
