Continuing a PGA TOUR tradition of honoring men and women in uniform, THE PLAYERS Championship recently unveiled a full slate of military appreciation activities and programs for the 2017 Players Championship, including a special performance by GRAMMY nominated artist Sam Hunt on Tuesday, May 9, during Military Appreciation Day. The Military Appreciation Day Ceremony (6 p.m.) and Concert (6:30 p.m.) will be held on the 17th hole when the tournament returns to THE PLAYERS Stadium Course at TPC Sawgrass, May 9-14.
The Military Appreciation Day Ceremony and Concert is FREE to any Tuesday ticket holder; a Tuesday Stadium Pass starts at just $25. Parking is also free on Tuesday and Wednesday of tournament week.
“I’m extremely excited to perform for our troops on the famed 17th hole during THE PLAYERS Championship,” said Hunt. “This tournament does so much to support the men and women serving our country. I am grateful to be a part of the festivities and am looking forward to putting on a great show.”
Hunt is a Grammy® Award-nominee, American Music Award winner and MCA Nashville breakout star who has established a name for himself and is one of music’s most talked about talents.
On February 1, 2017, Hunt released his latest single “Body Like a Backroad” which landed on the Billboard “Hot 100” as his highest debuting single. It also premiered at No. 1 on iTunes charts. With its release, came the announcement of his headlining tour, entitled, “15 in a 30,” which will hit 29 cities this summer.
His debut album on MCA Nashville, Montevallo, is the best-selling debut album from a country artist since 2011. The album featured the Triple-Platinum-selling No. 1 smash single, “Leave the Night On,” as well as other No. 1 singles, “Take your Time” and “House Party.” Since the 2014 release of Montevello, Hunt has accrued over 2.5 billion streams and has earned an additional 10.5 million units in RIAA single certifications.
“We are eagerly anticipating the 2017 Military Appreciation Day concert with Sam Hunt,” said Kevin English, THE PLAYERS 2017 Volunteer Chairman. “Fans will have access to the amenities located around the famous Island Green, like our permanent restroom facilities and various food and beverage options.”
