THE PLAYERS Championship Is Moving Back To March Starting In 2019

In a joint announcement, the PGA of America and the PGA TOUR announced yesterday that beginning in 2019, the PGA Championship will be played in the month of May -- while THE PLAYERS Championship will be contested in March at TPC Sawgrass in Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla.

By moving the PGA to May, it gives the tournament its proper due as a major, making it a centerpiece in the schedule. And by bumping The Players Championship to March, it gives the PGA Tour a strong, six-month stretch without any lulls — for players and fans alike.

“It's great for the golf schedule,” Rory McIlroy said Tuesday. “To now have one really big tournament every month from March — The Players, to the Masters to the PGA Championship to the U.S. Open to the (British) Open, and to have the FedExCup most likely at end of August or start of September.

From May 16-19, 2019, Bethpage Black in Farmington, New York, will host the 101st PGA Championship, which will be the first conducted in May since Sam Snead’s triumph in 1949.

A total of four PGA Championships have been held in May. Ben Hogan claimed the second of his two PGA Championship victories in May of ‘48. Denny Shute also hoisted the Wanamaker Trophy in May 193...   [Read More]

USA Today Preseason College Football Coaches Poll Released

On Thursday afternoon, the preseason edition of the Coaches Poll was released. For the 2017 season, the Alabama Crimson Tide came in first place, getting 49 first-place votes.

Rounding out the Top 5 are Ohio State at No. 2, Florida State at No. 3, USC at No. 4 and the reigning national champs, Clemson, at No. 5. Unsurprisingly, that Florida State-Alabama matchup, which has already been pegged as college football’s biggest season opener ever, is looking even bigger, given both teams’ rankings. This should hold consistent when the Associated Press preseason poll comes out later this month, too.

Take a look at the full Top 20 below. First-place votes are listed in parenthesis. Behind Alabama, Clemson had the second-most first-place votes with seven.

    Devil's Den: A Natural Wonder

Explore one of North America's most prehistoric places, Devil's Den! Devil's Den, a underwater cave and spring in central Florida, was formed by a karst window in which the roof over a subterranean river collapsed, exposing the water to the open surface. Over the years, this natural wonder has been transformed from a simple scuba diving site to a world class tourist attraction.

At the cave, remains of extinct animals from the Pleistocene Age (2 million - 10,000 years ago) have been discovered, including the bones of early man, dating back to 7,500 BC. On cold winter mornings, you can see steam-like smoke rising from the chimney opening. Thus, the early settlers graced the name Devil’s Den.

The spring features crystal clear water, year round 72 degree water temperatures, fossils beds dating back 33 million years plus more! Devil's Den offers scuba diving and snorkeling 7 days a week. They also offer equipment rentals, scuba instruction and night dives with special reservations. All divers must be Open Water certified, sign release, have proper training, and follow rules and regulations.

Gentlemen Of The Road St. Augustine Stop Over Recap

St. Augustine FL - “Gentlemen of the Road Stopover” was the biggest event that has happened this year and 904 Happy Hour went down to St Augustine’s Francis Field get the low down. I got to go down to Francis Field both days of the festival to check out the music and the crowd. From observing the number of attendees, it was said that there were at least 30,000 people that attended the festival. The line-up contained 12 bands for the two day festival. Mumford and Sons was the headliner for the festival and they performed a great show and gave the best performance their fans have ever seen. What also makes this a big event is that this was the final show for the Gentlemen of the Road Stopover and St. Augustine was the last stop. This festival was very artsy and brought many attendees from Jacksonville to Tampa and some people from out of the state as well.

Day 1 went off smoothly and showcased Willy Mason, Thao and the Get Down and Stay Down, The Walkmen and Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeroes. Each band gave a great performance and had their unique style. I categorized some of these bands as alternative, indie rock, or indie folk band. Each band performed a one hour set and I thought they all did a great job. When the night was over...   [Read More]

Steve Miller Band with guests Los Lonely Boys April 2nd at the St. Augustine Amphitheatre!

Steve Miller was a mainstay of the San Francisco music scene that upended American culture in the late ‘60s. with albums like Children of the Future, Sailor and Brave New World, Miller perfected a psychedelic blues sound that drew on the deepest sources of American roots music and simultaneously articulated a compelling vision of what music - and society - could be in the years to come. Then, in the ‘70s, Miller crafted a brand of rock ‘n’ roll music that was polished, exciting and irresistible, and that has dominated radio through today. Hit followed hit in what seemed like an endless flow: “The Joker,” “Livin’ in the USA,” “Take the Money and Run,” “Rock’n Me,” “Fly Like an Eagle,” “Jet Airliner,” “Jungle Love,” and “Abracadabra” among them. To this day, these songs are instantly recognizable when they come on the radio – and impossible not to sing along with. Running through Miller’s catalogue is a combination of virtuosity and songcraft along with melodic vocals and signature guitar riffs. His parents were jazz aficionados – Les Paul was his godfather – so as a budding guitarist and singer, Mill...   [Read More]
