Devil's Den: A Natural Wonder
Explore one of North America's most prehistoric places, Devil's Den! Devil's Den, a underwater cave and spring in central Florida, was formed by a karst window in which the roof over a subterranean river collapsed, exposing the water to the open surface. Over the years, this natural wonder has been transformed from a simple scuba diving site to a world class tourist attraction.

At the cave, remains of extinct animals from the Pleistocene Age (2 million - 10,000 years ago) have been discovered, including the bones of early man, dating back to 7,500 BC. On cold winter mornings, you can see steam-like smoke rising from the chimney opening. Thus, the early settlers graced the name Devil’s Den.
The spring features crystal clear water, year round 72 degree water temperatures, fossils beds dating back 33 million years plus more! Devil's Den offers scuba diving and snorkeling 7 days a week. They also offer equipment rentals, scuba instruction and night dives with special reservations. All divers must be Open Water certified, sign release, have proper training, and follow rules and regulations.

2017 Total Solar Eclipse On August 21st
On Aug. 21, 2017, people across the United States will see the sun disappear behind the moon, turning daylight into twilight, causing the temperature drop rapidly and revealing massive streamers of light streaking through the sky around the silhouette of the moon. On that day, America will fall under the path of a total solar eclipse .
A total solar eclipse occurs when the disk of the moon appears to completely cover the disk of the sun in the sky. The fact that total solar eclipses occur at all is a quirk of cosmic geometry. The moon orbits an average of 239,000 miles (385,000 kilometers) from Earth — just the right distance to seem the same size in the sky as the much-larger sun. However, these heavenly bodies line up only about once every 18 months.
The path of totality for the Aug. 21, 2017, total solar eclipse is about 70 miles wide and stretches from Oregon to South Carolina. It passes through Idaho, Wyoming, Nebraska, Kansas, Missouri, Illinois, Kentucky, Tennessee, Georgia, North Carolina and South Carolina.
During totality, the area inside the moon's shadow is cloaked in twilight — a very strange feeling to experience in the middle of the day. Just before and just after totality, observers can see this cloak o... [Read More]
The Volstead, Downtown Jacksonville's Premier Prohibition Style Whiskey Lounge Is Closing
The Volstead has announced that it will be closing its doors on August 21. The Volstead was a popular downtown Jacksonville speakeasy-style bar that has been open for about 3 1/2 years.
The Downtown speakeasy-style bar located at 115 W. Adams Street fronts as an old post office, but once inside, it is a bar specializing in cocktails from times past . It is an upscale bourbon bar serving premium bourbons, scotches and whiskeys in an upscale lounge, 1920s-themed setting.
“The Volstead” gets its name from The Volstead Act, which enacted Prohibition in the United States in late 1919. The act was later repealed in 1933, but the era would forever leave its mark on history. Some of histories most colorful personalities were players in bootlegging operations, and to this day bars still carry on
Jacksonville Florida pre-prohibition was a beautiful, bustling city where people came to achieve their dreams; designed to be the original site of Hollywood where the stars and starlets of the era came to spend their time.
As the decade progressed the nation fell on hard times, Congressman Andrew Volstead chalked up the bill to eradicate the production and sale of liquor throughout the United States. As liquor ... [Read More]

Josh Thompson at Mavericks Recap
Jacksonville Fl - On Friday the 13th at Mavericks, many people attended Josh Thompson’s concert. This artist is known for his hit songs “Beer On the Table”, “Way Out Here”, and “Coming Around”. This artist has some very catchy songs, but some are also repetitive. Before this artist went on to perform, Stephen Carey opened up for Josh. This was the first time I had heard of him or his music. His music is a country rock sound. When he came out to perform, his opening had a little bit of “Friday the 13th” intro since it was Friday the 13th. Listening to him perform was really cool, I thought this guy was a good choice to open up the concert at Mavericks.
Once Stephen Carey finished up, the crowd was excited and waiting for the concert to start. The crowd was excited to see Josh Thompson perform. I thought his performance was good and brought in the crowds who like to drink and party. Josh also performed a new song called “Cold Beer With Your Name On It”, for an upcoming album that he is working on. I think this guy writes a lot of songs that fit many Honky Tonks and Dive bars. Josh Thompson hasn’t gotten much radio airplay in a while; his last album came out in 2010. But hopef... [Read More]
