Florida State Faces Alabama In The Chick Fil A Kickoff Game Saturday Night
On Saturday night, No. 1 Alabama will take the field against No. 3 Florida State for the Chick-fil-A Kickoff Game at the new Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta.
It will be the first game at the new state-of-the-art stadium and the field is nearly ready for the highly anticipated contest. The end zones are painted and the finishing touches are being put on ahead of tomorrow’s kickoff
Jalen Hurts returns at quarterback and both Damien Harris and Bo Scarbrough return in the backfield of what should once again be an elite offense to compliment the best defense in the nation. The Crimson Tide ranked seventh in the nation in total yards with 6,829 and averaged 38.8 points per game as well, good for 16th best in the country.
Florida State had a breakout star in redshirt freshman quarterback Deondre Francois last season. Francois showed poise beyond his age with 3,350 passing yards and 20 touchdown passes in 2016 despite playing in a run-heavy offense. The young quarterback should see an uptick in pass attempts this season, but the Seminoles still figure to be an elite rushing team with a strong backfield and offensive line.
The AP Top 25 Poll and the Coaches Poll both have Alabama ranked at No. 1 and Florida State rank... [Read More]

The Jacksonville Jaguars Starting Quarterback This Season Will Be Blake Bortles.
Just one week after head coach Doug Marrone suggested that the job was up for grabs, the Jaguars starting quarterback competition has reportedly been settled. The man to lead the offense for your 2017-2018 Jacksonville Jaguars will be Blake Bortles. Coach Doug Marrone has picked fourth-year player Blake Bortles over Chad Henne to be the team's starter for the Sept. 10 season opener at Houston, a surprising turnaround for a player whose career with the team seemed to be in jeopardy a week ago.
Coach Marrone gave Chad Henne the start in Jacksonville’s third preseason game, but was apparently unimpressed by Henne’s 8-of-14, 73-yard performance. Bortles was better, connecting on 12 of 16 throws for 125 yards and a touchdown.
Bortles has started the last 45 regular season games for the Jaguars, but a dreadful start to the 2017 preseason following his downturn in 2016 led Doug Marrone to bench him in favor of Chad Henne for the third preseason contest. Henne went 8 of 14 for 73 yards while getting sacked three times with the first-team offense, while Bortles completed 12 of 16 passes for 125 yards, a touchdown and a pick with the subs.
Despite his downturn in production, the Jag... [Read More]

“Fabulous good-time romps…The pleasure is infectious.” –Blues & Rhythm
A lot has happened since guitar legend Elvin Bishop released his last album, 2014’s Grammy-nominated Can’t Even Do Wrong Right. He was inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame, and soon after into the Blues Hall Of Fame. He won the Living Blues Award for Best Blues Album Of 2014 and three 2014 Blues Music Awards: Album of the Year, Song of the Year (for the title track) and The Elvin Bishop Band took the award for Band of the Year.
Now, Elvin—along with his friends, guitarist/pianist Bob Welsh and percussionist/vocalist Willy Jordan—launches The Big Fun Trio. Preparing for one of the first live gigs with his new trio, Bishop told The San Jose Mercury News, “Every time I pick up the guitar, something new comes out of it. I guess you’d call me a late bloomer. When you get to be my age, you’re not expecting to be progressing or coming up ... [Read More]

Rodney Atkins at Mavericks Recap
Jacksonville FL - On January 25, 2014, Mavericks hosted Rodney Atkins who performed in front of lots of his fans. Braving the cold weather, many people came out to see this performer. Before the country singer went on to perform, two opening acts took the stage to get the crowd warmed up: Rose Falcon and Frankie Ballad.
Each of them was great in their performances. Frankie Ballad got the crowd going with his hits, “Bunch of Girls” and his newest song “Helluva Ride”. Frankie also played a cover of John Mellencamp’s song “Ain’t That America”. Personally, I liked his music; he had some great songs and was no stranger to Mavericks as he performed there last year. He also has a new album that will be released next month. As for Rose Falcon, she is new to country music and is also Rodney Atkins’ wife. An interesting fact is that if you were an Inspector Gadget movie fan back in 2003, she played a song for the second Inspector Gadget movie. That was the first time she was introduced as a pop singer. Now that she’s a country singer and starting over, it seems she’s ready for a country music career.

Darius Rucker with Eli Young Band and Corey Smith Coming To St. Augustine
St. Augustine, FL (January 20, 2014) –Darius Rucker returns to perform at the St. Augustine Amphitheatre with Eli Young Band and Corey Smith on Saturday, April 19, 2014. Darius Rucker previously performed at the Amphitheatre on October 29, 2010.
Rucker, who first attained multi-platinum status as the lead singer and rhythm guitarist of Hootie & the Blowfish, wrote ten of the twelve tracks on True Believers - ranging from his current single, the feel-good, sing-along, "Radio" to the sophisticated narrative of "Shine." He expresses special pride in the raw and realistic sentiments of songs like "Miss You" and "I Will Love You Still," a duet with young powerhouse vocalist Mallary Hope.
The two songs Rucker didn't have a hand in writing are both major events of their own. "Love Without You" features Sheryl Crow, with whom Rucker had wanted to record ever since they sang together at a VH1 function almost twenty years ago. For his version of the popular Old Crow Medicine Show song "Wagon Wheel," initially based on a sketch by Bob Dylan, Rucker, never expecting them to say yes, invited his tour partners and Capitol Records labelmates Lady Antebellum into the studio. When they came... [Read More]
New Lounge - The Volstead Opens Downtown
The Volstead joins Downtown Jacksonville right in time for 2014. Indulge in decadent bourbon, whiskey, and scotch on the top shelf, and try their classic cocktails made with a unique twist. Great drinks start with great ingredients, and aren’t we glad that we aren’t faced with the challenges that Prohibition brought to this nation.
“The Volstead” gets its name from The Volstead Act, which enacted Prohibition in the United States in late 1919. The act was later repealed in 1933, but the era would forever leave its mark on history. Some of histories most colorful personalities were players in bootlegging operations, and to this day bars still carry on the tradition.
Jacksonville Florida pre-prohibition was a beautiful, bustling city where people came to achieve their dreams; designed to be the original site of Hollywood where the stars and starlets of the era came to spend their time.
As the decade progressed the nation fell on hard times, Congressman Andrew Volstead chalked up the bill to eradicate the production and sale of liquor throughout the United States. As liquor became more scarece, people became craftier in finding ways to get hooch into the country. Due to the prime waterfront ... [Read More]

Jacksonville Fl - The Dave Matthews Band will be preforming in Jacksonville on July 15th 2014. Presales go on sale February 7th.

Dave Matthews Band will wind through numerous configurations – from electric to acoustic, from full-throttle numbers featuring the entire band to more intimate moments featuring small groups of band members – including a stripped-down pairing of Matthews with guitarist Tim Reynolds, performing as an acoustic duo, as they occasionally do when the band is off the road. Costa Concordia Salvage is Complete
Italy - The crippled Costa Concordia cruise ship was pulled completely upright early Tuesday during a complicated, 19-hour operation to wrench it from its side where it capsized last year off Tuscany, with officials declaring it a "perfect" end to a daring and unprecedented engineering feat.
The vast hulk of the 114,500 ton cruise liner has lain on its side for more than 20 months, dominating the tiny port in the Tuscan holiday island of Giglio where it hit rocks on January 13, 2012, killing 32 people.
