GIVING BACK LOCAL PEOPLE SUPPORT LOCAL VETERANS WITH PATRIOTIC EVENT
When Red, White & Brew Freedom Run organizers began planning for the launch of Florida’s largest freedom run earlier this year, they never dreamed how involved the community would become to assist local veteran’s charities.
Ultimate Racing, Inc., a race management company based in Saint Augustine, and 904 Happy Hour out of Jacksonville joined forces to bring a patriotic run to the area that would benefit area veteran’s charities. With the partnership of the Riverside Arts Market, many volunteers and a host of sponsors, the community came out in force to support K9’s for Warriors and Warfighters in Arms.
This year, organizers donated a total of $5,000 to the 2 charities, which will help them provide service to North Florida area veterans. Warfighters in Arms is a volunteer-led group that helps vets transition to civilian life by offering employment, support, guidance, and encouragement. K9’s for Warriors provides service canines to vets suffering from PTSD and more for service members after 9.11.
Sal Palmieri, US Army veteran and owner of Ultimate Racing said he was pleased they were able to offer a sizeable donation to deserving charities and offered thanks to participa... [Read More]

Brett Eldridge at the Jacksonville Landing Recap
99.1’s 99 Days of Summer kicked off Thursday with a free concert by Brett Eldridge and 904 Happy Hour was there to see it. Many people packed the Jacksonville Landing Thursday night and couldn’t wait for the rising country artist to perform. Before Brett came on, Natalie Nicole Green and Clark Hill opened up for him. Natalie Nicole Green sang some great songs, and her performance was really great. Clark Hill also did some great songs including a couple of originals. In case you don’t know, Clark Hill performed at the landing at Mavericks where he opened up for Love and Theft. Both of these opening act performances were acoustic sets which I really liked. It’s actually cool to listen to acoustic sets once in a while.
After the opening acts, Brett Eldridge came out and the crowd went crazy. His stage presence was beyond what I imagined. Since it was an acoustic performance, he didn’t just sit down with his guitar and perform the whole time. He reached out to the crowd. He enjoys being able to reach for his fans and having fun. Brett Eldridge is known for his two songs “Don’t Ya” and “Beat of the Music”. His two hit songs got the crowd excited and got them singing back to Brett. If yo... [Read More]
Frankie Ballard at Mavericks Recap
Mavericks at the Landing has had great performers over the past years and this artist really knows how to get the crowd on their feet. On Thursday May 15, Frankie Ballard revisited and headlined this show at Mavericks. The last time Frankie Ballard came to Jacksonville was when he opened up for Rodney Atkins along with Rose Falcon. Frankie Ballard packed the venue and put on a great show for the crowd. This artist is famous for his hit songs “Helluva Life”, “Bunch Of Girls” and “Tell Me You Get Lonely”.
Frankie put out an EP album in 2011 and has now released his full length album this year. He has a country rock sound and is very interactive with his fans. In the middle of his show, he brought a fan up on stage for her birthday and dedicated his song “Sober Me Up” to her. I believe she got her birthday wish that night! Frankie also played a cover of “Ain’t that America” from John Mellencamp. Frankie is an artist that just doesn’t go out there to please his fans, he also wants his fans to be his friends. When he performed his hit song “Helluva Life” his fans sang it back to him and he was blown away by how many people enjoyed his song. His show overall was full o... [Read More]

Simple Tips To Help New Boaters
Taking the helm of a boat is not so complicated. In fact, it might be too simple. It is not unusual to find someone sitting in the captain’s chair who doesn’t know the difference between port and starboard, bow and stern. But knowing a few common rules of the waterways not only helps a skipper feel more confident and competent at the helm, it is a matter of safety.
Just as there are signs and markers along roadways for auto traffic, there are also signs along our waterways, such as buoys, markers and lights.
For boaters, a few simple rules go a long way. When it comes to identifying the safest route, markers and buoys are used to identify the location of the channel. The buoys are distinguished by two features. The red buoys and markers are pointed at the top and only use even numbers. The green buoys and markers are square and only use odd numbers.
Three ways to identify a marker or buoy: color, shape and number.
Here is a good way to remember which side of a buoy or marker your boat should be on: When going from a larger body of water to a smaller one – typically “up river” and toward the source – a helpful reminder is: Red Right = Return.

Jacksonville Ranked As One Of Heaviest Drinking Cities In America
Jacksonville Fl - According to a recent study conducted by Sharecare, Jacksonville is ranked in the top 10 heaviest drinking cities for men and women. Some find this poll startling but some find it as getting Jacksonville on the "map".
Since the beginning, there has always been alot of drinking in Jacksonville but why so much? The answer lies in the fact that we are such a big city, not by population but by size and there is so little to do - or are there other factors to blame?
Until the last few years, people have been separated by rivers, the ditch at the beach & the lack of interest to drive to another area of town to find something to do. New campaigns have been sparking the interest of locals to travel out of their neighborhood to try something new causing this trend to change.
