Groundwork Jacksonville Will Build Emerald Trail Withtin Next 10 Years
The Jacksonville City Council has approved a plan presented by Groundwork Jacksonville to Build an Emerald Trail within the next 10 years. The trail will tie together over 30 miles of trails, green space, parks and creeks forming a necklace around Jacksonville’s urban core.
Over a six-month period, the planning team conducted field work, analyzed data, and worked with our Steering Committee and neighborhood working groups to ensure the proposed trails were safe, appealing and destination-driven.
The Steering Committee dissected the Trail Master Plan into three implementation tiers: Programmed Segments, Implementation Tier 1, and Implementation Tier 2. The goal for implementation is to have a trail segment within acquisition, design, permitting, and construction at all times until completion. The total project cost is estimated to be approximately $31 million.
This Saturday will be the opening of the first mile of the Emerald Trail. The walk will start at the Prime Osborne Center and head north through LaVilla and under I95 to Myrtle Ave and the start of the S-Line Rail Trail. The walk will end at Engine 15 Brewing Co. Total Distance is 1.3 miles. Event will end at 1pm, and transportation will... [Read More]

CineBistro: Fine Dining and a Movie
Everybody loves dinner and a movie. Some people can’t afford a movie due to them getting more expensive. A lot of theaters have been getting upgrades to make sure moviegoers get what they are paying for. However, the current upgrades don’t compare to those off the new luxury cinema looking to break ground in Jacksonville.
According to the Jacksonville Daily Record, Jeff Fuqua is planning on bringing CineBistro to the Exchange near southeast Butler Blvd and I-295. It’s calling itself a “world class ‘dinner and a movie’ concert”. CMX CineBistro operates 14 locations in nine states, including five in Florida. It is a subsidiary of Cinemex, the Mexican-based movie chain. In addition to all the technology, it offers options from “blockbuster movies, art and independent films, to special screenings of live music and sports.”
This theater will include a full menu and bar in it’s location, catering to an adult crowd. Menu items in areas like Sarasota, Miami, and Tampa include roll sliders, seared scallops, shrimp mac and cheese, wagyu beef sliders and New York Strip steak. With a bar menu including cocktails, beer and whole bottles of wine available for purchase. Ther... [Read More]

It’s about that time again where coolers and tailgate gear gets busted out of the garage, jerseys and hats get washed, and folks prepare to say goodbye to their significant others because the glory of the NFL is almost back! We’re headed into training camp and the Jacksonville Jaguars, by all accounts, have had a fantastic off-season. A lot of change has happened with this team and there is a buzz about this team that hasn’t been felt in a long time. The city is ready to fall in love with the Jaguars again, from all of the stadium upgrades to the positive things the team is doing in the community and the only thing that’s missing a competitive product on the field.
To help you get amped up for training camp and for those who haven’t paid attention to any of the off-season stuff, here’s the 3 storylines to follow during camp:Photo Courtesy: Phil Sears - USA TODAY 1. Blake Bortles Development
When a player is drafted in the top 10 of the NFL Draft, it’s expected that the rookie is going to produce for a team and right away. Even more so when that player is a quarterback. But GM David Caldwell is taking a different approach when it comes to rookie QB Blake Bortles. It has been said that Bortles has... [Read More]

Jaguars sign first-round draft pick Blake Bortles
The Jacksonville Jaguars signed 2014 first-round draft pick Blake Bortles to a contract, the club announced this morning. Bortles was the third overall pick in the draft and is the seventh of the club’s nine draft picks to sign a contract.
Bortles was the third quarterback the Jaguars have drafted in the first round, and the sixth overall and highest drafted in franchise history. The former Central Florida quarterback was the highest drafted player in school history.
“We are excited to get Blake under contract as we finish up minicamp,” Jaguars General Manager David Caldwell said. “Blake has progressed really well this offseason and has brought a great attitude to work each day. He is highly competitive and very passionate about football. He knows where he needs to get better and is willing to do the work. He’s a down to earth guy, a blue collar guy and he just wants to be the best he can be.”
“It’s nice to get the contract done as we head into the final part of minicamp and prepare for training camp,” Bortles said. “I can’t thank Shad Khan, David Caldwell and Gus Bradley enough for the opportunity they have presented me... [Read More]
Jaguars Will Hold Football Practice at Bartram Trail High School
JACKSONVILLE – (via jaguars.com) The Jaguars are taking training camp back to school – and into the community.
And they’re doing it this summer in about as significant a fashion as an NFL team can do it, moving a training camp practice to a local high school.
The Jaguars will hold one 2014 training camp practice – Monday, July 28 at 7 p.m. – at Bartram Trail High School in St. Johns County, Jaguars President Mark Lamping and General Manager David Caldwell announced Wednesday morning.
The practice will be free and open to the public.
“It’s just another sign that the Jaguars want to be fully integrated into the community,” Lamping said Wednesday after the announcement, which took place at the Florida Blue Health and Wellness Practice Fields shortly before the Jaguars’ second practice of 2014 organized team activities.
“Sometimes, you need to take the show on the road.”
St. Johns County Superintendent of Schools Joseph Joyner said the practice will be a huge event for the county. The NFL rebuilt Bartram Trail’s field as part of preparations for the Super Bowl at EverBank Field in February 2005.
“There will be a big crowd,” he sa... [Read More]
