The Holidays in St. Augustine, Florida
Sure, we all love the holidays. But sometimes they can feel like the same old, same old. Year after year, you attend the same Christmas parties, wrap similar square-shaped boxes, bake dozens of cookies and struggle to maintain your pre-Thanksgiving weight. What if you did something different this year? What if you spent the holidays creating new experiences and memories with your close friends and family?
St. Augustine, Florida is home to one of the most famous holiday lighting displays in the world. It’s also the Nation’s Oldest City having been continuously occupied by European-established settlements since 1565. And did we mention that this little city by the sea is situated on the Atlantic Ocean and boasts miles upon miles of white, sandy beaches?
There are thousands of reasons to spend the holidays in St. Augustine. Here are just a few of them.
Nights of Lights – Every year, millions of twinkling lights cover the cityscape of St. Augustine from November 18, 2017 and continuing nightly through January 31, 2018. Come see why Nights of Lights was selected by National Geographic in both 2011 and 2012 as one of the best holiday lighting displays in the world as you journey thro... [Read More]

Jaguars Vs Broncos Pre Game
Blaine Gabbert is officially done as a quarterback in Jacksonville, in my eyes at least. His play during the Rams game was atrocious and I’ve finally hit that point where I don’t think he’s going to get any better here. We’ve all got that breaking point, and I’ve finally reached mine. But you guys don’t want to hear me rant about the QB situation in Jacksonville. You want to know if the Jaguars have a chance at winning this next game. So let’s dive in.
The Jacksonville Jaguars (0-5) face off in Denver against the Broncos (5-0) tomorrow afternoon. This game’s importance is only relevant to the national media who want to see the most lopsided victory in NFL history and those who want to try and make some money in Vegas. The Broncos are a Super Bowl caliber team; the Jaguars aren’t. But even though these two teams are on opposite directions and statistics tell you that this shouldn’t be a competitive game, remember what happened on that day in January in 1997 (if you aren’t aware of the story, please catch yourself up on Jaguars history)
Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning has 20 TD passes to 1 interception and is on pace to break many NFL passing records. His weapons in Julius T... [Read More]
Jaguars Predictions - Will We Win
Jacksonville FL - Another week, another embarrassing loss for the Jacksonville Jaguars. Although the outcome against the Seattle Seahawks was expected, there were a few positive spots in the game. Rookie safety Jonathan Cyprien had a sack and forced fumble that was recovered and turned into points. The Jaguars managed to score two touchdowns this week doubling their total from the first two weeks. So the team is making progress, right? Right?
The Jaguars (0-3) host the Indianapolis Colts (2-1) at Everbank Field Sunday afternoon. This is the first home game after the long two-week West Coast road trip and this game also signifies the return of quarterback Blaine Gabbert, who missed the previous two games due to a hand injury. Also returning to the field is tight end Marcedes Lewis, who's presence will be felt on both the offensive line and in the passing game as another potential weapon for the offense. Colts QB Andrew Luck comes into the game after a decent performance against the San Francisco 49'ers (17-26, 159 yards, 1 rushing TD) looking to improve on a 1-1 record against the Jaguars.
Colts newly acquired RB Trent Richardson has been getting more accustomed to the play book and should see an expanded role in their of... [Read More]

Jaguars Pre Game Weigh In
Once again, the lackluster play of the Jacksonville Jaguars quarterbacks leaves fans with a gritty and disgusted taste in their mouth. Some feel the team would be better with a certain hometown hero who would love to see him don the black and teal. I disagree. Rusty Smith would probably not make this squad better at the moment. But I digress...
The Jacksonville Jaguars (0-2) face off against the Seattle Seahawks (2-0) on the second West Coast game of the season. Jacksonville stayed out in California during the week to avoid making an extra trip and practiced at a local college. The offense as a whole struggled again last week, losing against the Oakland Raiders 19-9, but showed signs of life late in the game when quarterback Chad Henne threw a late touchdown to tight end Allen Reisner in the 4th quarter. Defensively, the Jaguars made enough plays to keep the team in the game, holding the Raiders to 4 field goals and rookie safety Jonathan Cyprien started to look a little more comfortable as he had 3 hard-hitting tackles and forced a 4th quarter fumble, which the Jaguars recovered and turned into points. Looking forward to Seattle, what can we expect from this game? Well, one can only hope that the Jaguars can find a way to play smart football... [Read More]

Magic! To Perform at The Ponte Vedra Concert Hall
Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla. (January 5, 2015) — The Ponte Vedra Concert Hall welcomes lively pop, reggae and R&B fusion group Magic! on Sunday, February 22, 2015. Tickets for Magic! will go on sale this Friday, January 9 at 10 a.m.
When something is meant to be, you just know it immediately. It's as if there was a divine plan or universal synergy fusing the right elements together at the right time for the right situation. That's the feeling Grammy Award-winning songwriter and producer Nasri experienced the first time MAGIC! jammed. During a writing session in 2012, he heard collaborator and guitarist Mark Pelli strum a reggae-tinged riff, and something clicked. "I'm a huge fan of The Police, and I always wanted to do my own project that merged reggae, rock, pop, and a little soul for quite some time," he affirms. "The moment Mark began playing, it felt natural. We had this vision, and it all tied together instantly. We began recording, and the sound was so locked in on every song. That's even where we derived the band name. Everything simply worked like MAGIC!"
Magic! distills Caribbean flavor, arena-size bombast, and glistening melodies into an undeniably intoxicating musical potion. ... [Read More]
Downtown Jacksonville Aquarium Renderings
Its been talked about for years now and finally, plans have been released on what an Aquarium could look like that would be situated in downtown Jacksonville. The aquarium would find its home in downtown Jacksonville in the vacant Shipyards property and could potentially be the lost key to kick starting the revival of downtown. The property has had many different proposed plans over the past year from a massive tower and ferris wheel to a central park but this may be one of the coolest and most promising concepts yet.
Still lacking the necessary funding, there may be potential investors on the horizon. An advocacy group called Aqua Jax, has stepped up to the plate to raise awareness and assist in the advancement of projects for the city of Jacksonville that will provide greater prosperity, growth, and revenues to benefit all citizens. The groups top priority project is to assist in the placement of a world-class aquarium on the riverfront in downtown Jacksonville.
With the help of the community and investors, all we can do is hope that this project will not be halted.... [Read More]

Explore The Cummer Museum in Jacksonville
From One Woman’s Vision, A Cultural Gift
The Cummer was established in 1958, when art collector, garden enthusiast and civic leader Ninah Cummer bequeathed the art collection and riverfront home, which she owned with her husband Arthur, to create an art museum. Mrs. Cummer made an official announcement of the gift a year before her death, imploring community leaders to help support the museum she intended to found: “Naturally no civic undertaking can function adequately without the interest and support of the community in which it is located. Therefore it is hoped that there may be additions to the Foundation from time to time so that this Museum may rank favorably with those established in other cities in the United States during the last few decades."On the evening of November 10, 1961, the city of Jacksonville received what would become one of its greatest gifts. That night, more than 1,000 residents and dignitaries welcomed the Cummer Museum of Art & Gardens to Jacksonville’s cultural landscape.
Immediately following Mrs. Cummer’s death, the Board of Trustees set forth to build the Museum on the grounds of the Cummer home. In less than 10 years, the Trustees would dedicate the Museum, and grow the colle... [Read More]
Major Ft Caroline Discovery
For years the exact location of Ft. Caroline, the first French colony has been a mystery. Historians believe the fort was located here in Jacksonville along the St. Johns but to this day until July 29th 2014, there were no positive identifications of the exact location. Earlier this year, researchers asserted the colony was located, not on the St. Johns River, but on the Altamaha River in southeast Georgia.
State Rep. Lake Ray believes he and his son Lake Ray IV and Mark Lloyd may have made the discovery of a lifetime. Lake Ray announced his findings Tuesday morning at a news conference. He believes their findings confirm the landmark’s Northeast Florida location along the St. Johns River.
Ray, along with his son, Lake Ray IV and Mark Lloyd have been looking into this specific location now for a couple weeks. Using historical books and Google Maps, they believe they might have found a location that matched the dimensions and geographic area. Ray has asked the the area to not be reveled to prevent tampering and looting of the site. The site is being protected by the Coast Guard and National Park Service, and tampering with the site is a felony.
