WORLD FAMOUS BUDWEISER CLYDESDALES AT ANHEUSER-BUSCH BREWERY

The Budweiser Clydesdales made their first-ever appearance on April 7, 1933. A gift from August A. Busch, Jr. and Adolphus Busch to their father in celebration of the repeal of Prohibition, the presentation of the original two six-horse hitches of champion Clydesdales moved father, sons and drivers to tears. The phrase “crying in your beer” was officially coined shortly thereafter.

More than 300 years ago, this imposing breed was first developed for farm work in the region of Clydesdale, Scotland. They are most easily recognized for their substantial feather — the long hairs of the lower leg that cover the hooves. Despite a dressy appearance, they are capable of pulling a 1-ton load at 5 MPH.

No strangers to television broadcasts and parades, the Budweiser Clydesdales have figured prominently in two Presidential inaugurations. They appeared in Missouri native Harry Truman’s inaugural parade in 1949, and then again for Bill Clinton’s in 1993.

In 1950, the Budweiser Clydesdales received their very own mascot: the Dalmatian. Traditionally used to guide horse-drawn fire carts, this spotted dog serves as friend and companion to the team, sitting aside the driver.

SHARKS CALM STORM ON FRIDAY NIGHT 60-41

JACKSONVILLE  – Taking advantage of an opportunistic defense that forced five turnovers, the Jacksonville Sharks improved to 2-0 at home on Friday night, beating the Tampa Bay Storm by a 60-41 count on Sea Best Field at the Jacksonville Veterans Memorial Arena. Jacksonville (2-2) jumped out to an early 13-0 lead thanks to the first of those turnovers. After R.J. Archer opened the game with a one-yard touchdown run. Tampa Bay (3-2) quarterback Randy Hippeard lost control of the snap on the Storm’s ensuing drive. Jack linebacker Charlie Hunt pounced on the loose ball to set the Sharks up at the Storm 16. On the very next play, starting quarterback R.J. Archer took a hard hit and left the game for one play and Aaron Garcia stepped on to the field wearing a Jacksonville uniform for the first time since 2011. Garcia needed just one snap to make an impact, throwing Mardy Gilyard open for a diving 24-yard touchdown catch that gave the Sharks that two-score lead.

Archer bounced back after missing that one snap, playing the rest of the game under center. Following the Storm’s first score of the game – a touchdown from Hippeard to Justin Hilton, Archer fired a five-yard scoring strike to London Crawford, giving the Sharks a 20-7 lead. Rock Band Modest Mouse To Perform at the St. Augustine Amphitheatre

St. Augustine, Fla. (May 26, 2015) – The St. Augustine Amphitheatre, in partnership with Jax Live Presents, proudly announce the return of indie rock band Modest Mouse to the St. Augustine Amphitheatre on Friday, July 17, 2015. Tickets for this concert event will go on sale to the general public this Friday, May 29 at 10 a.m.

Modest Mouse are one of the most surprising commercial success stories of the new millennium – while their music is by turns taut and elliptical, and the lyrics sometimes cryptic and introspective, the band broke through the mainstream audience with the platinum-selling Good News for People Who Love Bad News and they became genuine rock stars at a time when their musical peers remained cult figures.

Modest Mouse was formed in 1993 in Issaquah, Washington by singer/guitarist Isaac Brock, drummer Jeremiah Green and bassist Eric Judy. In 1994, Modest Mouse recorded its first EP, Blue Cadet-3, Do You Connect and also recorded what would have been its first album, Sad Sappy Sucker, but constant delays caused the album to be shelved and ultimately released in 2001. In 1996, the group officially released its debut album, This Is a Long Drive for Someone with Nothing to Think About, on the independent ...   [Read More]

Classic Hard Rock Trio The Winery Dogs Coming To Ponte Vedra

Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla. (May 11, 2015) — The Ponte Vedra Concert Hall welcomes classic hard rock trio The Winery Dogs on Wednesday, October 14, 2015. Tickets go on sale to the public this Friday, May 15 at 10 a.m.

It would be easy to call The Winery Dogs a supergroup: Vocalist and guitarist Richie Kotzen made his mark with Poison and Mr. Big, bassist Billy Sheehan has been rocking for decades with Steve Vai, David Lee Roth, Mr. Big and others, and drummer Mike Portnoy was the co-founder of progressive metal superstars Dream Theater. But The Winery Dogs are so much more than a supergroup. Supergroups are usually short-lived entities composed of gifted players that jam out for little while and then quickly record with the hopes of catching lightning in a bottle. That's certainly not the case with The Winery Dogs, a cohesive, well-rounded classic-sounding trio with blazing songs that defy expectation. The group’s self-titled debut is filled with straightforward rock and roll inspired by some of their favorite bands, and their music transcends any of the styles they're best known for.

“We all have our own distinct voicings and styles, but we also have a common ground of music we grew up listening to,&rdquo...   [Read More]

Little Big Town Coming To St Augustine Amitheatre

St. Augustine, Fla. (April 27, 2015) – The St. Augustine Amphitheatre proudly welcomes contemporary country quartet and 2015 ACM Awards Vocal Group of the Year, Little Big Town, on Saturday, October 17, 2015. Tickets will go on sale to the general public this Friday, May 1 at 10 a.m.

The country vocal quartet Little Big Town features Karen Fairchild, Phillip Sweet, Jimi Westbrook and Kimberly Schlapman. The quartet began with Kimberly and Karen, two Georgia natives who began singing together in college. Arkansas-born and Alabama-raised Jimi Westbrook, a friend of Fairchild's husband, joined them to make a trio, and the group was completed by the addition of Arkansan Phil Sweet in 1998. From the outset, Little Big Town devoted their sound to harmony and multiple lead vocals, a combination that made the band a hard sell at first. They finally landed a deal at Mercury Records, but it fell through due to disagreements about musical direction. In the wake of the success of the Dixie Chicks, however, Little Big Town were taken up by the Dixie Chicks' label, Monument Records in 2000 and Monument issued the band's debut single, "Don't Waste My Time," in the winter of 2002. The song was on its way up the charts when its accomp...   [Read More]
