It's back: Coca-Cola reintroduces Surge soda
Fans thirsty for a taste of ‘90s nostalgia – or those who are simply craving a citrus-flavored sparkling beverage with a kick – can rejoice in the news that SURGE is back after a 12-year hiatus.
SURGE, which debuted in 1996 and was taken off the market in the early 2000s, is making a comeback thanks, in part, to a passionate and persistent community of brand loyalists who have been lobbying The Coca-Cola Company to bring back their favorite drink over the last few years. SURGE is Coke’s first discontinued brand to return to the market.
The SURGE re-launch represents two additional firsts for Coke. The brand, which will be offered in its original formula in 12-packs of 16-oz. cans featuring the same retro design from yesteryear, is part of an innovative distribution deal between Coca-Cola and Amazon. A limited supply of SURGE will be sold exclusively through the online retailer atwww.amazon.com/surge, marking the first time Coke has distributed a product solely through e-commerce.
“If expectations are met, this may be only the first of a variety of efforts we explore to launch niche products through e-commerce relationships,” said Wendy Clark, president of sparkling and strateg... [Read More]

Steve Miller Band with guests Los Lonely Boys April 2nd at the St. Augustine Amphitheatre!
Steve Miller was a mainstay of the San Francisco music scene that upended American culture in the late ‘60s. with albums like Children of the Future, Sailor and Brave New World, Miller perfected a psychedelic blues sound that drew on the deepest sources of American roots music and simultaneously articulated a compelling vision of what music - and society - could be in the years to come. Then, in the ‘70s, Miller crafted a brand of rock ‘n’ roll music that was polished, exciting and irresistible, and that has dominated radio through today. Hit followed hit in what seemed like an endless flow: “The Joker,” “Livin’ in the USA,” “Take the Money and Run,” “Rock’n Me,” “Fly Like an Eagle,” “Jet Airliner,” “Jungle Love,” and “Abracadabra” among them. To this day, these songs are instantly recognizable when they come on the radio – and impossible not to sing along with. Running through Miller’s catalogue is a combination of virtuosity and songcraft along with melodic vocals and signature guitar riffs. His parents were jazz aficionados – Les Paul was his godfather ... [Read More]

Jacksonville Beach City Government Proposing To Cancel All Future Festivals In Jax Beach
If you spent time enjoying any of the beautiful community festivals in 2016 at the Seawalk Pavilion in Jacksonville Beach, you might want to listen up. It seems as though a certain part of the community isn’t getting down with the new wave of festivals — and they are actively seeking to shut them down.
If you live at the Beaches or just love the festivals, we urge you to go to tonight’s 6 p.m. city council meeting, as they are discussing the future of these festivals … and the word is they are on the chopping block.
Without these events, local businesses, vendors, musicians, sound engineers, production companies, talent buyers and more will lose work. Apart from that, the Beaches community will lose a huge piece of our culture that brings people together and showcases music, arts and businesses.
Additionally, most of the festivals have a huge charity component. The 2016 Beaches Oktoberfest raised over $30,000 for local charities including a $20,000 contribution to Communities In Schools. The Beaches Oktoberfest also featured a Beach Clean Up which helped clean over 8 miles of coast line and dispose of over 35,000 cigarette butts after the decades most devastating hurricane.<...
