There have been a few attempts to bring the popular restaurant back to Jax Beach the last couple years but this time, we think there is some real progress and renovations to an existing restaurant have begun.
Heres a note from the new management posted on Facebook:
"Hello Homestead family :
I am excited to announce that after some unanticipated delays, we will be opening the beloved Homestead Restaurant to a fabulous (new) location in Jacksonville Beach!
The old Tomo’s Japanese Restaurant location at Penman Plaza will become our cozy, new home. For those of you who may not be locally familiar with Tomo’s, we will be centrally located in Jax Beach at Penman Plaza.
We hope you are as excited as the Homestead team is and look forward to serving you up the old Homestead favorites as well making memories with friends in the Copper Top Pub !

THE BEACH BOYS TO PLAY THE ST. AUGUSTINE AMPHITHEATRE AND TICKETS GO ON SALE FRIDAY
On Sunday, April 15, the St. Augustine Amphitheatre will proudly present pop music legends The Beach Boys live in concert. Tickets for The Beach Boys go on sale this Friday, February 9 at 10 a.m.
You can capsulize most pop music acts by reciting how many hits they’ve had and how many millions of albums they’ve sold. But these conventional measurements fall short when you’re assessing the impact of The Beach Boys. This band has birthed a torrent of hit singles and sold albums by the tens of millions. But its greater significance lies in the fact that it changed the musical landscape so profoundly that every pop act since has been in its debt.
The Beach Boys are led by Mike Love and Bruce Johnston, who along with Jeffrey Foskett, Brian Eichenburger, Tim Bonhomme, John Cowsill and Scott Totten continue the legacy of the iconic American band. Grammy-winning songwriter Bruce Johnston, joined The Beach Boys in 1965, replacing Glenn Campbell, who filled-in for Brian Wilson, on vocals/bass, when he retired from touring. Highly regarded in his field, Johnston’s vocal work with such legendary artists as Elton John and Pink Floyd firmly established him among rock’s elite artists. Captained by Mike Love, The Beach Boys pla... [Read More]

UNF Ospreys Face FGCU in a A-Sun Battle
Jaguars football is over and filling its place in my heart is UNF basketball. Yes, the University of North Florida Ospreys are looking to do some damage in the Atlantic Sun Conference and even make this year's NCAA tournament. So far in their 2013-2014 season, the Ospreys are 9-8 on the season, 3-1 in conference play as they host Florida Gulf Coast University (9-7, 3-0 ASun) on Thursday night at 7 p.m.
UNF senior Travis Wallace, who earned A-Sun Player of the Week last week, leads the Ospreys averaging 12.2 points and 7.2 rebounds per contest. Finishing with 15 points at Northern Kentucky University, Wallace is the ninth UNF player to reach 1,000 career points.
The Ospreys aim to extend the six-game home streak alive from the Eagles, who currently hold a 9-7 all-time lead between the two teams. After Thursday's game, North Florida will wrap up their home game series on Saturday against Stetson.
As a fan, I urge that we get as many people as possible to the game. Tickets for all UNF home basketball games are available at UNF Arena, online or by calling 904-620-BIRD (2473) or email@example.com. Single game men's ticket prices are $12 Reserved (Sec. 5-14), $10 Adults, $8 (Youth 17-under, Senior Citizens 55+, Acti... [Read More]

THE PLAYERS Championship launches 2014 Birdies for Charity program
Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla. – THE PLAYERS Championship is pleased to announce that its Birdies for Charity program will return for the 2014 tournament, running from January 6 – May 7. The program gives local non-profit organizations the chance to fundraise while fans have the chance to win a prize by guessing the number of birdies that will be made during THE PLAYERS 2014. THE PLAYERS returns to THE PLAYERS Stadium Course at TPC Sawgrass, May 6-11.
Any Northeast Florida charitable organization, recognized by the IRS as a 501(c)(3), is eligible to participate in Birdies for Charity. Charities encourage individuals to make a donation (minimum $20) to their organization via the Birdies for Charity program and each donation is accompanied by a birdies guess for a chance to win $5,000, sponsored by TPC Sawgrass. There will be one winner. In the event of a tie, the individual who provides the correct answers to tie-breaker question(s) will be awarded the grand prize. In 2013, there were 1,603 birdies made during the tournament with 44 balls in the water at No. 17. Participating charities also have the opportunity to raise bonus dollars from a $250,000 bonus pool based on their performance during the program. For official rules, see www.birdiesf... [Read More]
Muschamp Hires Roper as Gators' New Offensive Coordinator/Quarterbacks Coach
GAINESVILLE, Fla. Via Gator Zone - Kurt Roper was one of five finalists this season for the Broyles Award, given annually to the nation's top assistant coach.
Gators coach Will Muschamp and Florida fans would like nothing more than for Roper to repeat as a finalist in 2014.
Muschamp made it official Thursday morning, announcing he has hired Roper as the Gators' new offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach.
"I'm excited to have Coach Roper join our staff," Muschamp said. "He has a diverse, up-tempo background on offense and does a good job of adapting to what the players do best. The most important thing though is he has always remained balanced.
"He has had success calling plays in the SEC and has tutored three NFL quarterbacks. He has had players produce at every offensive position and he is one of the most well-respected coaches in the country."
Roper has spent the last six years as offensive coordinator at Duke under Blue Devils coach David Cutcliffe, a longtime mentor. Roper has worked with Cutcliffe every season but one since 1996 when he joined Tennessee's staff as a graduate assistant and Cutcliffe was the Vols' offensive coordinator.

Indie Folk Artist Mason Jennings Coming To Ponte Vedra
Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla. (January 26, 2015) — The Ponte Vedra Concert Hall proudly announces that indie folk singer- songwriter Mason Jennings will perform on Sunday, March 15, 2015. Tickets for Mason Jennings will go on sale to the public this Friday, January 30 at 10 a.m.
Before setting to work on his 10th studio album, Minnesota-based musician Mason Jennings was looking for a new approach to writing. At the advice of a friend, the singer/songwriter/multi-instrumentalist holed up in the back room of his wood-nestled cabin studio with just a guitar, electric piano, bookshelf, notebook, tape recorder, and one 90-minute cassette and then wrote all winter long. Emerging with the notebook and tape full of about 30 new songs, Jennings decided to skip his standard approach of self-recording and called on producer Bo Ramsey (Greg Brown, The Pines, Iris DeMent), as well as a wish-list-plucked lineup of guest musicians that includes DeMent and Neil Young drummer Chad Cromwell. The result of those “dream collaborations” and his own hard-won inspiration is the latest album Always Been, Jennings’s most radiant and refined effort of his career. Recorded at Minneapolis studio The Terrarium, Always Been builds on the rugged, acoustic-guitar... [Read More]

Since then, Cray has gone on to record sixteen Billboard charting studio albums and has written or performed with everyone from Eric Clapton to Stevie Ray Vaughan, from Bonnie Raitt to John Lee Hooker. Inducted into the Blues Hall of Fame in 2011 at the age of 57, he is one of the youngest living legends to receive the prestigious honor. And while he can look back ove... [Read More]
