    Jaguars Vs Steelers Takeaways

Jaguars Senior Correspondent Brian Sexton gives his five takeaways from Fridays win over the Steelers.

Blake Bortles is clearly a better quarterback in 2015. We’ve seen it from him since the OTA’s and in mini-camp but wondered how it would look against the Pittsburgh Steelers in the Pre-season Opener. How’s 11-15 for 118 yards and a 96.0 passer rating sound? Bortles also showed his penchant for making plays on the run outside the pocket when he ducked under a defender and reached for the pylon while falling out of bounds to score the Jaguars 1st touchdown in the 2nd quarter. He sounded like a veteran as he passed the credit around in the locker room after the game.  "I think it was a tribute to the guys up front and to the guys running routes,” said Bortles. “We had a ton of guys get catches and guys worked their tail off to get open. I think we had great protection up front, so I think it was a good first quarter." Perhaps as impressive as his numbers was his poise in the pocket. The Steelers bring pressure, it’s what they do and he was patient with the receivers and the protections and only took a single sack. It’s been written in this space many times already...   [Read More]

    Fitness and Priorities

I just do not have time to work out. That is the top excuse I hear from people. This frustrates me because I feel so many people have their priorities out of order.  In the years, I have heard many, many reasons to not work out including I am too overweight, I can’t afford to, I am too tired.  All of this comes down to what is your priority.

I see both sides of the argument in that people are very busy with work, kids, school and life in general. However, some of these people wake up early, squeeze in a work out at lunch or get it in at 8pm at night. The question I have is, what are you doing with your time? How much time are you on the computer and watching TV? It does not take much time to get in some sort of exercise. You can do some basic body weight exercises WHILE watching TV. It also does not have to cost much. Just a decent pair of shoes and you can step out your front door for a run.  How much do you spend going out to eat or going to Starbucks?

So the question is, what is the real reason for not exercising? For that answer, you have to dig deep and really look at what is stopping you. Usually people have deeper reasons and emotional reasons for holding them back. This is where you need to get your pri...   [Read More]

It's back: Coca-Cola reintroduces Surge soda

Fans thirsty for a taste of ‘90s nostalgia – or those who are simply craving a citrus-flavored sparkling beverage with a kick – can rejoice in the news that SURGE is back after a 12-year hiatus.

SURGE, which debuted in 1996 and was taken off the market in the early 2000s, is making a comeback thanks, in part, to a passionate and persistent community of brand loyalists who have been lobbying The Coca-Cola Company to bring back their favorite drink over the last few years. SURGE is Coke’s first discontinued brand to return to the market.

The SURGE re-launch represents two additional firsts for Coke. The brand, which will be offered in its original formula in 12-packs of 16-oz. cans featuring the same retro design from yesteryear, is part of an innovative distribution deal between Coca-Cola and Amazon. A limited supply of SURGE will be sold exclusively through the online retailer, marking the first time Coke has distributed a product solely through e-commerce.

“If expectations are met, this may be only the first of a variety of efforts we explore to launch niche products through e-commerce relationships,” said Wendy Clark, president of sparkling and strateg...   [Read More]

Mellow Mushroom will also be hosting a contest for customers to win a trip to Amsterdam for two. Customers will be able to pose, in-store, with a backdrop of the first Mellow Mushroom location and post it to Instagram with #40YearsBaked to enter. Those without an Instagram account can upload their images to

Maple Street Biscuit Set To Open 3rd Location

Jacksonville Fl - One of Jacksonville's favorite breakfast and brunch eateries is opening a new location. The restaurant which opened doors in October of 2012 currently has 2 locations. The current locations are 410 North 3rd Street in Jax beach and 2004 San Marco Blvd in San Marco.

Scott Moore, one of the proprietors said that the restaurant is ready to set up shop at at 1171 South Edgewood Avenue (Murray Hill) in the near future. Maple Street Biscuit Company was started by Scott Moore and Gus Evans, and they hand built it right 19here in Jacksonville, Florida. They opened their doors on November 8, 2012 to a community with open arms and hungry tummies.

There lies a heart beat behind Maple Street before it ever opened its doors, and it wasn’t out to just make a profit. It was out to make a difference and be apart of the community. Walking into every Maple Street, you should be walking into a culture created around the idea of just that. You’ll notice a lot of community style seating for you to meet your neighbor or if you’re visiting, meeting the locals.

Maple Street also operates on some key core values: Consistent Southern Comfort Food with a Modern Twist ...   [Read More]
