THE ALLIGATOR FARM IN ST. AUGUSTINE CELEBRATES ITS 125TH ANNIVERSARY
The St. Augustine Alligator Farm Zoological Park this year celebrates its 125th Anniversary. The beloved Northeast Florida destination will mark its century-and-a-quarter birthday with a wide range of celebrations and special events, most notably the opening of a brand-new attraction, Oasis on the Nile.
A History of Crowd-Pleasing and Conservation
The St. Augustine Alligator Farm Zoological Park was founded in 1893 as a small exhibition of Florida reptiles, and it soon became a quintessential Florida attraction. In 1937 it was purchased by W.I. Drysdale and F. Charles Usina, who began acquiring additional animals from other alligator farms, zoos, and museums, and by the 1950s, The Alligator Farm had become world famous. In the 1970s, scientists from the University of Florida began research on the premises, and exhibits were improved, with additions including the theater, outdoor amphitheater, and the stunning rookery boardwalk.
Since 1989, The American Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA) has extended accreditation to The Alligator Farm, elevating the institution to a select list of zoos, aquariums, and other zoological facilities throughout the nation recognized for the quality and care of their collections.

Super Bowl XLV III Game Day Predictions
The 2013 NFL season will conclude tonight with one of the biggest events in the entire world, Super Bowl XLV III. Finally, the two weeks of talk and fluff will end and will finally see if this game will live up to the hype. Out of the AFC, the Denver Broncos (13-3) and the #1 offense in the league will play against the NFC champion Seattle Seahawks (13-3) and their number #1 ranked defense. Six times we’ve seen two #1 teams match up like this in the title game and 5 out of 6 times, the team with the #1 defense wins the game. Will that be the case tonight?
Let’s look at the Broncos. The Broncos have weapons all over that offense, starting with the best quarterback I’ve ever seen in my life, Peyton Manning. Demaryious Thomas, Julius Thomas, Wes Welker, Knowshon Moreno, and Eric Decker are going to give the Seahawks secondary fits as it’s going to be a tough task to cover them all. Also, the Bronco’s defense has been playing very well during the playoffs with the play of defensive tackle (and former Jacksonville Jaguar) Terrance Knighton, who has been a nightmare stopping the run and creating interior pressure on pass rush plays.
Moving on to the Seahawks. We are all well aware of how good and how fast ... [Read More]

Nights of Lights runs November 22, 2014, through January 31, 2015, in St. Augustine, Fla.
During Nights of Lights, St. Augustine glows with holiday magic - from the ground to the rooftops. Selected by National Geographic in 2011 & 2012 as one of the ten best holiday lighting displays in the world, St. Augustine’s Nights of Lights feature millions of tiny white lights that create a magical atmosphere in the Nation’s oldest city. Thanksgiving Day Block Party @ Pete's Bar in Neptune Beach
Neptune Beach Fla - What started as one lonesome bartender has evolved into a beaches tradition that many depend on as part of their holiday routine. Thirty years ago, one bartender was working on Thanksgiving Day and called his friends to keep him company. The friends showed up, along with the bartenders’ relatives and the rest is history.
Year after year, speculation always surrounds Thanksgiving Day at Pete’s Bar – is it happening? Is security cracking down? Can you bring drinks into the area? The reason for speculation is a result of how big the celebration has become. According to Nancy Jensen, owner and granddaughter of original owner, Peter B. Jensen, Thanksgiving Day at Pete’s started getting big 5 years ago. “We advertised the first couple of years, but now its word of mouth. We’re also open Christmas Day since a lot of people want to congregate at the bar if their family is out of town and the help is always voluntary.”
If you’re planning to attend this year’s Thanksgiving Day at Pete’s, leave your Bloody Mary at home and follow these simple steps: • Pay attention to entry points – the area will be barricaded off ... [Read More]
