Chuy's Opens At The Strand At Town Center
Chuy’s, opened last Tuesday at The Strand at Town Center. It’s address is 4914 Town Center Parkway which is across the street from The Markets.
The TexMex restaurant has eight locations in Florida and has 10 made-from-scratch signature sauces, Big As Yo’ Face Burritos and hand-rolled tortillas.
Chuy's opened on April 16, 1982 in an old, abandoned Texas Barbeque joint on iconic Barton Springs Road in Austin, TX. There was seating for about sixty, a women's restroom the size of a broom closet and a men's restroom that was, well, outside. Founders Mike Young and John Zapp had a vision of a fun and funky Tex-Mex restaurant that served authentic and fresh food in an atmosphere that appealed to everyone. From these humble beginnings Chuy's was born.
Chuy's is known for its authentic, fresh food and fun, eclectic atmosphere. This Town Center location will be its first one in Jacksonville. Almost everything is made from scratch in the giant kitchen, and the 800-degree comal where fresh tortillas are constantly rolled out. The queso, guacamole and green chile are all great.
Their store hours are:
Sun - Thurs 11am to 10pm
Fri - Sat 11am to 11pm... [Read More]

MC Wale Previews Florida - Georgia
JACKSONVILLE, FL - It is that time of the year again: the RV's are pulling into Jacksonville, the trash talk over the airwaves and social media has started, and the invitations to tailgate parties are being shared as the entire city preps itself for one of the most exciting weekends in Jacksonville. The Florida-Georgia game, also known as the World's Largest Cocktail Party, is always a good time, although there seems to be a little less luster on this year's matchup due to the status of the two teams at this point of the season.
The Florida Gators (4-3) and the Georgia Bulldogs (4-3) both entered this season with their eyes focused on Atlanta and the SEC championship. Both teams have very slim chances of making that goal a reality with both teams having two losses in the conference. Georgia specifically has been dealing with a ton of injuries on both the offensive and defensive sides of the ball. Georgia is expected to have running back Todd Gurley, which should help quarterback Aaron Murray and their 25th ranked passing attack balance out the rest of their offense.
The Gators have also been dealing with a ton of ... [Read More]

Indie Country Rock Artist Jenny Lewis To Perform at the Ponte Vedra Concert Hall Saturday, May 9, 2015
Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla. (January 20, 2015) — The Ponte Vedra Concert Hall proudly announces that indie country rock singer-songwriter Jenny Lewis will perform on Saturday, May 9, 2015. Tickets for Jenny Lewis will go on sale to the public this Friday, January 23 at 10 a.m.
In July of 2014, Jenny Lewis returned with her new album, The Voyager. The Los Angeles artist’s first solo LP since 2008’s Acid Tongue, The Voyager is Lewis’s most deeply personal, and her most musically robust. Featuring production work from Ryan Adams, Beck, as well as Lewis and her longtime collaborator Johnathan Rice, The Voyager finds Lewis at her sharp-witted best, singing about her recent life with honesty and incisiveness. And then there’s her voice, which was already a force to be reckoned with, but sounds even richer, more nuanced, more powerful. Lewis says The Voyager was the hardest album she has ever made, documenting her struggle to cope following the death of her estranged father in 2010 and the subsequent break-up of her band, Rilo Kiley. In the three years she worked on it, there were moments she thought she’d never finish. But, more than ever before, she knew she had to. The story is best told in Lewis’s own words:... [Read More]

Meet the Boatanista - Lisa Almeida
How many people have you heard say they were involved in a particular activity “before they could walk”? In most cases, it is a figure of speech used to emphasize a point. In my case it is the literal truth.
I was a boater long before I could walk. And it is not just a figure of speech for me to claim that boating is etched into my DNA. I have visible proof.
My favorite photo hangs on the wall over my breakfast table. It is a vintage, 1950s-era image of two water skiers waving to the camera as they are pulled behind a boat. The man and woman in the photo are competitive water skiers at world-famous Cypress Gardens. They are young, and fit, and smiling. What the photo does not reveal is that the two are among the best at their craft, and have set various records and won numerous accolades.
It is a photo of my parents. To say I grew up boating is no exaggeration. In fact, before I could crawl, my parents would secure my baby carrier firmly near the helm of the boat as they practiced their routines. I took to boating from the start. My parents told me that the movement of the water would most often lull me to sleep.
When other kids were riding tricycles I was learning to ski. When other kids were pl... [Read More]
