TICKETS TO STYX AND DON FELDER LIVE AT THE ST. AUGUSTINE AMPHITHEATRE GO ON SALE FRIDAY
The St. Augustine Amphitheatre proudly presents two juggernaut icons of classic rock, STYX and Don Felder (formerly of the Eagles), live in concert on Friday, April 13, 2018. Tickets for STYX and Don Felder go on sale this Friday, January 26 at 10 a.m.
The six men comprising STYX (Tommy Shaw, James “JY” Young, Chuck Panozzo, Todd Sucherman, Lawrence Gowan and Ricky Phillips) have committed to rocking the Paradise together with audiences far and wide by averaging over 100 shows a year every year since (yes) 1999, and each one of them is committed to making the next show better than the last. Founded in Chicago in 1972, STYX has the unique distinction of being the first band in rock history to have four consecutive certified multimillion-selling albums in a row: 1977’s The Grand Illusion, 1978’s Pieces of Eight, 1979’s Cornerstone and 1981’s Paradise Theatre.
STYX draws from over four decades of barn-burning chart hits, joyous singalongs and hard-driving deep cuts. Like a symphony that builds to a satisfying crescendo, a STYX set covers a wide range of stylistic cornerstones. From the progressively sweeping splendor that is “The Grand Illusion” to the hunker-down fortitude of all that is the “... [Read More]

Elite Hospitality, based in Ormand Beach, has closed on the purchase of a hotel development site in Jacksonville Beach for $11 million. Located at 15 First Street North, the property has been pre-approved for a eight story tower encompassing 220 rooms. Elite Hospitality has listed the site on its website as the future home of a Margaritaville hotel. The Venardos Circus Is Coming To The St. Augustine Amphitheatre Beginning January 24
The Venardos Circus, a unique family oriented traveling troupe, will bring its big-top performance to the St. Augustine Amphitheatre beginning January 24 and running through February 10, 2018. The Circus proudly features its own custom-made big-top, a classic red-and-white striped tent, with an intimate feel and seating for up to 300 guests. The tent will be set up in the parking area of the St. Augustine Amphitheatre, adjacent to the larger venue.
Created by former Ringling Bros. Ringmaster Kevin Venardos (veh-NARR-dos), the Venardos Circus wraps world-class circus acts into a Broadway Musical-style format that is called “the American Circus with the heart of a Broadway Show.” The group recently completed a series of shows in Las Vegas and arrives in St. Augustine with aerialists, acrobats, comedians, juggling, balancing, daredevilry and performers hailing from around the world. The Broadway-style singing and dancing adds another level of intrigue to the performance.
The Venardos Circus’ St. Augustine visit fills a void and is timely. The Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus closed in May after 146 years of entertaining. A new 20th Century Fox film musical that portrays the career of P.T. Barnum, entitled “The ... [Read More]

Chili Cookoff In Jax Beach This February
On February 7, 2015 the J.L. Wiley Foundation for stroke awareness and healthcare advocacy will be celebrating chili once more with their third annual Chili Cook Off. Come out to the Jacksonville Beach Community Center from 4 to 7 and register your vote for the best chili from local amateurs and professionals. Can Sawgrass Country Club and Mark Duren defend their Chili Master titles?
The band 'Working for Crazy' will be playing some great music and there will be dancing along with a silent auction and raffle items.
The J.L. Wiley Foundation was founded in 2010 by the Wiley family after experiencing a stroke in their family, to make people more aware of the risk of stroke and the ways that it can be prevented. Our first goal is better stroke awareness and treatment. We never would have imagined that Joe would have had a stroke. We didn’t know any of the warning signs that in retrospect were present as much as several days before. We have come to realize that while your risk of suffering a stroke increases with your age that it still can strike people of any age.
Tickets can be purchased online at www.jlwileyfoundation.com.... [Read More]

Haunted: The Florida Theatre
There’s a building Downtown some believe is haunted. In three years’ time, three different ghost-hunting expeditions spent nights there – and one expedition detected something: An apparition of a body sitting in balcony chair.
That apparition was detected at the Florida Theatre, one of Downtown’s most beautiful historic landmarks. If the walls of the Florida Theatre could talk, there would be some amazing stories to tell. Lucky for us, though, the Florida Theatre staff offers tours to the public. We had the opportunity to do so at a recent First Wednesday Art Walk.
This tour explores the stage, backstage, the “green room,” dressing rooms, the promenade, the Barnett Room and the balcony. It’s awe-inspiring from start to finish. Here are a few fun facts about the venue that fascinate us most:Elvis Presley performed at the Florida Theatre in 1956, one of his first headline concerts appearances on an indoor stage. The performance was the subject of a LIFE Magazine feature, and a local judge sat through the concert to make sure Presley’s dancing was not too suggestive. When the Florida Theatre opened in 1927 as a movie theater, Forsyth Street was known as &... [Read More]
